You think that's bad? You should have heard the "Man on the Street" interviews done on Boston's Freedom Trail on Boston radio this afternoon (Michelle McPhee, AM 1430).
The question was: "What do we celebrate on July 4?"
It was just stunning to hear so many people who had no idea at all, who couldn't name the country from whom we won independence, nor the year -- or even century -- that it happened. Name one signer of the Declaration of Independence? How about Abraham Lincoln?
Un-freaking believable.
As for the schools which do teach history — the history is revisionist. A number of young people believe, for example, that the US was the antagonist during World War II.
exactly the results that government schools have been hoping for.
we. are. doomed.
The left wanted to tear the WASP foundations of this country down and rebuild their communist utopia; they are finding that while the former was easy enough (due to demographics), they can’t make anything out of what is left. The worker bees they thought would serve them are unemployable and ignorant (and they resent it). Did they really think they would dumb down real fields of study while those same students would listen with rapt attention to leftist drivel? They have young people today who think any work is slavery, and they want all the pretty things sold on TV that they’ll never be able to afford with today’s wages.
