ABC executives are finalizing a plan to reboot “The View” next fall, for the second consecutive year, with a flurry of changes that could include the departure of at least one of its regular hosts, Variety has learned.
While moderator Whoopi Goldberg will remain as the face of the struggling daytime talker, the future of two of her co-hosts, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez, is in doubt. One or both women could be dropped because network execs are underwhelmed with their contributions to the show’s signature Hot Topics segment, which is expected to shift focus permanently toward more lighthearted celebrity fluff.
The changes come as instability behind-the-scenes at the show continues, say insiders, which probably isn’t what Disney/ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood was hoping for when he shifted oversight of the program from ABC’s daytime division to its ABC News unit as part of a previous reboot effort that brought in Wallace and Perez last September.
A spokeswoman for ABC News declined comment. Reps for both Wallace and Perez did not respond to inquiries for comment.

Er, the reason they were hired in the first place is...why?
Here, free of charge, is my suggested re-vamp of “The View”:
In each program:
Segment One: State the issue to be discussed, identifying one or two questions to be answered.
Segment Two: Define the terms to be used in the discussion.
Segment Three: Discuss the issue, citing the philosophical/moral principles, and the relevant facts, upon which rational conclusions are to be based.
Segment Four: Identify any common logical fallacies committed by those who discuss the Issue.
Segment Five: Summarize the rational conclusions reached.
Segment Six: Discuss latest divorces, split-ups, sex-changes, fashion crimes, etc., in Hollywood.

Fortunately she can’t string more than two sentences together at a time. She doesn’t get much airtime.
Is that necessarily a bad thing? ;)

Man.....when Whoopi stays as the “FACE” of this show, you have to wonder just how HORRIBLE the ones that are being fired!!
The show is like a roach after nuclear fallout.
Perez is one of the most racist people I’ve ever seen on tv and Wallace goes along to get ALONG.(No real conservative face there). The whole program should be 86d.
