SHELDON, IOWA (KTIV/CNN) - Some Republican lawmakers had another reason to chastise the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday after it ruled same-sex marriage legal nationwide.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX, put his legislation where his mouth his, introducing an amendment to counteract the SCOTUS ruling. Cruz is a candidate for president in 2016.

Ted Cruz Ping! There are no conservatives left in D.C. Ted....only Republicans. Well, maybe one, if you don’t become POTUS.
This is another test to separate a true conservative like Ted versus other candidates in the race.
Interesting to see where Rubio and Paul come out on this.
Whether you like Ted or not, and I do, one thing about him you have to admit is, he forces people in Washington to be put on the record and to take sides. And they hate it and him.
If this court over-stepped its bounds, then states Governors should decide whether or not this "illegal law" should be affirmed in their state or not.
When 'social justice' is practiced the legality of that result should be in question.
Go with Ted, he is on the right path!
Ted is by far the best. Three others are acceptable.
I applaud him for trying something, but it’s pure symbolism. He would be better advised to introduce a bill limiting scotus’ ability to rule federal laws unconstitutional under Congress’ power per Article III. It wouldn’t pass either, though the bar is slightly lower, but it would shake people up and bring that power to light.
How about a law that says plainly that a SCOTUS decision that is rendered and deemed as creating a Law, which is not within the scope of the Court’s power under the Constitution, States can vote such a ruling of law invalid by a simple majority in their legislatures.
That’s a possibility. To me the exact details are secondary to Congress asserting their Constitutional authority to pass “exceptions” and “regulations” over scotus’ appellate powers. Even if it didn’t pass (it wouldn’t now) it would get the conversation going.
Rush said something similar today about us, “going along with it”; that’s not the point. Here’s what I emailed Rush today:
“Rush, we do not accept gay marriage or other...however, what happens if we say anything in public? IRS? Heck, they can seize your life savings. The EPA can just simply claim my back yard as a sanctuary...They can destroy your life. That is the reason ...we are not going away but, When the people fear the government that is tyranny; when the government fears the people that is liberty. Talking to friends about this in “safe groups” is one thing, saying it out loud or to a pollster, is too risky.
Rush, you know where we are at this point; there is no freedom of press, religion or speech...”

Every governor in the South anyway should already be invoking the 10th Ammendment. crickets.
It might pass even now. The problem remains that we have no leadership. Until Boehner and McConnell are removed, there is no one to initiate this.
I’m reading elsewhere that we don’t need an amendment. A simple piece of legislation passed by a simple majority in both the house and the Senate would do the trick. According to what I read this AM on Western Journalism, this doesn’t even need the President’s signature.
Of course, try telling that to your Congressman and you get a long, convoluted explanation of Senate and House “rules”. And even Cruz has told my Congressman that the “rule” currently in play that only one piece of legislation per year passes out of the Senate with 51 votes is a good rule. Everything else needs 60.
According to my Congressman, they were haolding open their one 51 member vote for repealing Obamacare until SCOTUS struck down the Burwell case.
Something very dark is going on in DC, and we voters are in line to be snookered again.

This news might come as something of a shock to some of you, but Congress has the CLEAR and UNDENIABLE authority and power, under Article III, Section 2 of the Constitution of the United States, to NULLIFY the recent lawless decree by five unelected black-robed tyrants that elevates perversion to the status of marriage.
All it takes is a simple majority vote in the House and the Senate and, once it is done, the courts have no power to rule on it and Barack Obama has no authority to veto it. If Congress votes... IT IS DONE.
So why isn’t Congress taking a vote right now? ... Why have so few in the media brought this simple Constitutional remedy to your attention? Senator Ted Cruz said it best: “Sadly, the political reaction from the leaders of my party is all too predictable. They will pretend to be incensed, and then plan to do absolutely nothing. That is unacceptable.”
Cruz is right. Their lack of action is UNACCEPTABLE, but you have the power to fix that right here and right now by calling our elected officials on the carpet. It only takes a simply majority of the House and the Senate to nullify this lawless Supreme Court ruling, and we want to see a vote NOW.
Cruz/Huckabee 2016. They are the only 2 with guts and the ability to articulate a position.
In this case, by the state governments. They are the ones being forced to abide by this crap, in many cases in states that already voted this down in referendums. 40 states, in fact.
Constitution, Article 3, Section 2:
“...In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make...”
No mention of the President.
According to my Congressman, with whom I had a private 1 1/2 hour meeting yesterday, "nobody cares about gay marriage". "None of [my] wealthy constituents care about gay marriage" "The nation is in deep moral decline." This is a man who looked absolutely awful when he came around to my office yesterday. He's been in DC 6 months, has gained about 100 lbs, sleeps in his office, showers in the House gym, eats every meal out, is working on a case of acne, and is obviously stressed. Previously he has been a valiant warrior against abortion, in favor of all things conservative, worked on budget constraints and cutting taxes.
