Why aren’t these liberal Hollywood idiots making their movies in LA??? Why aren’t they happy to pay the high taxes and deal with liberal governmental regulations in California??? Are these Hollywood hypocrites???
Hang on, lemme get this straight - Hollywood, the den of leftist extremists supporting leftist extremist politicians, who run campaigns based on “paying your ‘fair’ share” are crying because they don’t get as much of a tax break for filming there???!!!! Leftist liberal hypocrisy much? The studios need to shut the hell up and “pay their fair share”.
Insider info, as a low-level OH filmmaker: the purpose of these tax credits is to “develop a film industry” within the state. But in fact, the credits do no such thing: they lure in big-budget productions, and indeed, bring in work (at the expense of taxpayers), but the work leaves. I do not favor any tax credits for anything, but if you goal is to build an in-state film industry, the way to do it is to give tax credits to ANY budgeted film produced by an in-state person. That $ would at least go back into more in-state productions. But as the credits now stand, they are merely “drive-throughs” for the big boys.

How bout Michael Moore getting a million dollars in tax breaks and subsidies to film “Capitalism: A Love Story” only to turn around and complain about Viacom and Rupert Murdoch getting the same.

Apparently the National Review has a different meaning to "Axing" than I do. To me, axing is chopping down to a stump and spraying Round-up on any sprouts to kill them too. I would call what Jindal did a minor but long overdue pruing.

Why yes, they are. But they are always ready to support some tax scheme “for the poor” just so long as it doesn’t include them.

Well now, here’s another “right” for the SCOTUS to “find” in our Constitution.
And so the courts will grind on and the lawyers for both sides will earn fat salaries, all of which will ultimately be paid by the taxpayers.
Yeah but almost all of them are bad.
New Orleans and the surrounding areas are not really ideal place to shoot movies, and many of the movies shot there seem to try and force fit various locations into the story, and it just makes no sense at all.
There was some Denzel Washington movie a while back where the plot revolved around trying to blow up the Canal St. ferry...
This was just laughable. they trying to tell me that someone is going to waste perfectly good explosives on a handful of cars, bikes and pedestrians on some junk ferry crossing the river!?

Tax credits are given on the assumption that jobs will result for the locals, gaffers, grips, technicians, etc. That hasn’t turned out as well as originally hoped, and Jindal knows it. They’re suing to demand corporate tax breaks? Hilarious. They’re getting breaks locally owned companies don’t get at all.
