Supporters of the Confederate flag were seen waving the flag outside of the school this afternoon where President Barack Obama is scheduled to give his remarks on health care later in the day.
The demonstrators were gathered across the street from Taylor Stratton Elementary School in Madison.
They said they hope the president will come outside and speak to them so he will understand what theyre all about.
We just want him to understand that this is heritage, that there is not any bit of hate coming from these flags. We cant be held accountable for one man making that mistake and shooting up that church, said one of the demonstrators.
The Confederate flag has been a big issue in recent weeks in the aftermath of the church shooting that killed nine people in Charleston, S.C. Since then, several states have taken down the flag from government property and many companies have vowed to stop selling products featuring the flag.
Bikers and good old boys wear the confederate patches and bandannas as a way of identifying as “rebels” in the generic sense. They’re just saying they refuse to work in cubicles, not necessarily any association with slavery or the civil war.
Ok, now that Steppenwolf song born to be wild will be playing in my head all night..
Good for them. The entire flag brouhaha is out of control.
.
The Obama/ACORN/Soros machine, sent dozens (hundreds?) of operatives to join Free Republic in 2005-2007.
Many were exposed over the first couple of years, but the more patient ones linger.
I just keep track of them and ignore them.
Today in NYC there was a flag burning - of the “Union” flag - by unassimilated garbage (all hues) that said it stood for the same things as the Confederate flag.
I find this all very liberating; I feel no responsibility to any country at all (mine died years ago).
Unfortunately that will be playing into the narrative. Personally, I don’t much care for the Confederate “battle flag”. The group did go to war against our country - and that war was fought over slavery as much as anything else. I think it was a good thing that the confederates were defeated and we remained one country. I know that many considerate it their heritage, but even Nikki Haley thinks that maybe the history is too painful, and shouldn’t fly with the official American flag. And because it is so identified with the slave past, it doesn’t do the conservative side much good to be waving that flag at the first Black president. Yes, it is about optics as much as any substance, but that’s what politics is...
If I remember right, I believe they were also ass bandits the Nazi's were using as well?
History certainly does repeat itself!
