Mostly speculation on my part, but I think disgruntled employee or ex-employee. Not many points cut simultaneously, as far as I know, only one location per instance.
Worst case is multiple simultaneous instances like that fellow who set fire to a switching station - he was a pissed off employee too, IIRC, but it takes longer to repair a node than a line.
