Why can’t they blur out the Confederate flag? It is done all the time. Why is that so hard to figure out?

Because in doing so it becomes obvious that they are censoring something for people's own good, and they will react to it negatively.

Removing the whole thing keeps such uncomfortable questions ("What's under that blur?") from being asked.

Like when I watched an episode of Amazing America with Sarah Palin and saw pictures blurred out in Ted Nugent's house. I did not care and I expect most Americans of sound mind would not care about the Dukes of Hazzard getting a blur job now and then--just as long as they don't blur out the babes.
