A Northern California woman who opted to drive an unfamiliar path to her parents’ house while in labor found herself alone during childbirth and fighting off bees shortly after, KCRA.com reported.

My husband used to deer hunt in south Texas. One day he came upon a woman giving birth on the ground under a bush. He went to find a phone, it was before cell phones, to call an ambulance. When the ambulance got there she was gone. Another native born Texan!

I hope her parents aren’t counting on this trailblazer to look after them when they’re old enough to need looking after.

At the three-day mark, the new mom started a signal fire that erupted into a forest fire.

The way her story was going you almost expect the next thing to happen was a C-130 dumping a load of fire retardant on her head.

Yes, that’s the preferred French pronunciation.

Anybody that attempts to discharge a full-house .357 Magnum cartridge from a .38 Spl revolver is a remarkably clever sort of idiot, and deserves what he gets ...

I'd send a bunch of these very two things to the highest crime-ridden spots. Here's your revolver Mr. Gangbanger. Oh, don't forget the ammo.

True, you should not drive while in labor.

OTOH, Sarah Palin also drove herself to the hospital while in labor. Maybe the woman in this story lived a short distance from her parents’ house and thought she could make it.

“Sarah Palin also drove herself to the hospital while in labor.”

I don’t think I ever heard that before. What were those circumstances and which child was it?

And always remember what one of the survivors of the Donner Party said years later: hurry along as fast as you can and don’t never take no shortcuts.

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but she was with her husband, don’t you think he was the one driving on that last leg of the journey?

You’re not being argumentative.

You’re right - that article says she was with her husband. He must’ve driven her.

I seem to remember articles claiming that “she drove,” which made it sound as if she drove herself. At the time, I was thinking, Wow.
