In 2003, I sat on the jury of an illegal on trial for attempted murder. We were instructed to not take his illegal status into consideration when determining guilt.

I recall a similar experience several years ago. The accused was Hispanic and the charge was domestic violence. I had been reading that misdemeanors had become grounds for denying Second Amendment rights.

I told the court for that reason I could not vote to convict the accused.

The point I was trying to make was that it was wrong IMO for the law to go that far.

If they had told the court that he was "undocumented" (which I suspected he was) I would have had no problem convicting him.
