And what happens when that leftist government orders a mostly anti-administration and far more conservative military to use those weapons against US citizens - their own brethren?????

Presuming facts not in evidence, there? Is the military comprised of mostly anti-military now? Will it be "when" the gov't orders it to supress the citizens? Is the military comprised of far more conservative (than what?) now? Will it be so, "when?" And are we talking about the military who give the orders or the military who get the orders and actually use the weapons?
As to "their own brethren" -- well. Not if Obama has his way. We may see the military comprised largely of anti-American people, people who have been taught to hate white people, or Christians, or Jews, people who were born in foreign lands and who have no American heritage or culture. They will do as ordered. And then there are the "good German" types who will do as ordered no matter what.
That goes double for the paramilitary police, the Homeland Security forces and whatever else crops up in the next few years.
They'll do as ordered by government. After all, don't we?
They have been purging the military of individuals who cannot be counted on to execute Orders from the State, regardless of what those orders might be.
Do not count on the morality/integrity of the US Armed forces to prevent them from killing American citizens. I have little doubt this current lot will have no hesitation to do so.
You have Yugoslavia during WWII. It took 30 some divisions to maintain control over that country.
Then the Leftist power centers (heavily urban areas) starve as food shipments dwindle.
