Do you think there is something in common in their Jewish background, being persecuted outsiders in Europe and coming from a religious tradition that pushed socialism in the synagogues, that caused Jewish intellectuals in the 1800s to create a socialist model for taking over the world that was then transferred to the United States when many of them migrated after the 1890s? In other words, not to lend credence to this rank anti-Jewish guy, but to acknowledge that some Jews for a variety of reasons had a big part in the spread of socialist ideas in the US and Europe, and formed the core of the Communist Party when it was constituted in the US? This history then leading to the vast majority of US Jews supporting the Democrat party even while leading very capitalistic personal lives.
Most of the primary shapers of socialist thought were rank Jew haters (Marx, Proudhon, Bakunin...).
A good and fair question. I always answer like this: Jews traded their religious fervor for Judaism to their new religion: socialism or liberalism or progressivism. IOW, they had fervor; once they broke with Judaism, the fervor had to find a new home. As we all know, socialism makes its adherents feel very righteous, ‘feel’ being the operative word.
It is the history of European persecution that formed the opinion of many secular Jews anti-Christian bias.
