i think initial move lower then everyone realizes its the best outcome. Keep giving them money and the problem will only get bigger. This is the only way to get past this. Instead of headlines linking all of Europe with Greece the stories will be about the misery in Greece itself.

Oh, they can handle Greece, but if the contagion spreads to Spain, Italy, France, that is something they can't handle.

Germany could indeed back out, but they are heavily dependent on exports to other EU countries and it would hurt their economy. It's a crazy system: Germany is lending money to Greece, Spain, Italy, France so the people in those countries can buy products from Germany and keep the German economy going.
