The reason your license is accepted in all other states is that if is effectively federalized.

During a Jim Crow, a mixed race couple could be married on one state but another state didn’t have to recognize it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I mistook you to mean as though the license was issued and enforced by the US Federal government. I see now you mean federalized as in “federalism” which simply binds the separate states together under the US government.

Yes, the states accept all other states licenses as a matter of choice, not force. If one stated decided not to allow it, they could. Stupid, but they could.

Just as my California engineering license does not allow me to be able to stamp engineering plans in any other state but California.

So we are saying the same thing. As I said, the other states are just reciprocating by choice in allowing drivers to use their own state’s license in their state.

I think we are saying the same thing.
