No, but after Appomattox THE flag was supposed to be a symbol not of defiance but of honor. We furled it with honor, and cased it up, proud of it yet for us the War was over—the Union had prevailed and we were once more part of it. THAT Flag will always live on as a remembrance of those who fell carrying it.

Listen and learn. Some chose to fight on, but General Lee asked us to bear defeat with head held high and rebuild our part of the Union—not to defy but to work together. For the next 75 years THE flag was used in those honorable remembrances of those veterans and fallen of the Southern states—not as a symbol of defiance. Certain members of the KLAN unfurled and carried it; bringing great dishonor to it and themselves, but that was only a few of those who did. Ever see a Klan rally—mostly USA Flags. That tarnished Old Glory, too.

Those who used the Confederate Battle Flag in the 50s and 60s to defy negro sufferage did the tarnishing of that Noble Banner. It has been perverted into a symbol of racism and hatred, and I wish was not so.

Better to furl it up again and let this generation pass before we ever wave it in defiance again. Moreover, we have conservative comrades and brothers in arms all over the Union; why should our symbol of defiance be one that their ancestors fought against? Cannot we have a symbol that represents us all, and not one the democrats used in hatred?

This link has info with statistics. If you click on the links at the first link, there is even more very in-depth info:

http://factsaboutyouth.com/posts/health-risks-of-the-homosexual-lifestyle/

There are two links under “Physical Health” (Male Homosexual Behavior & Female Homosexual Behavior) that really lay out the risks in fairly graphic detail.

There are some kids who experiment with being ‘gay’ because it’s the “in” thing to be these days ... maybe a little educational reading on what it really means to be gay would be enlightening. A lot of adults who think being gay is just fine and dandy could use educating as well.

BTW, this website is a project of the American College of Pediatricians so it’s not some “conservative scare site”.

I doubt we’ll ever see a serious uprising by conservatives. We respect the constitution more than the left does and follow the rules. It will take a lot for conservatives to get violent. The left, OTOH, believes the end justifies the means so anything goes: lies, violence, intimidation, persecution and prosecution. Examples abound. Leftist groups can be violent and radical. On the right we mostly have Tea Party groups, the NRA and churches.

Our side tries to win playing by the rules. Their side has no such restriction.

So very sorry you are going through this. Please know we are thinking about you and praying for your safety and a peaceful resolution. Can we do anything to help?

Oh, no, I agree 100%. Most of the Republicans and democrats in office are all about staying in power and continuing the gravy train for themselves and their friends. Boehner and McConnell sold us a bill of goods—they are NOT conservatives, and oppose conservatism because they know real conservatism will turn off the pork spigot.

But it is not true to say Brown cast a vote for Obamacare. He ran against it.

Right. Protection Orders run one way: prevents you the respondent from being near a “protected person”. She can come around you with impunity and you must scoot. It is not reciprocal.

If you are in violation, that is a crime, and subsequent offenses become a felony.

The Brady law makes you ineligible to own or possess any firearm so long as Order is in effect.

You should defend the granting of the Order, have an attorney. This is a serious matter.

I agree with DanZ, Gary.

Consider this country... Do we leave because Obama is president? What if Hillary gets elected? What if all these illegal aliens get citizenship and we conservatives pass through a generation of political minority status?

Until he declares his opinions to be “ex cathedra”, we have a right to oppose them. And even now, many good bishops and cardinals oppose all and any socialism, communism and environmentalism that is not rooted in scripture and our Christian principle, which some call tradition (and I call simply that which Jesus taught us and has been passed down to us from our fathers).

Someone tell me just what is the life expectancy of an adult male homosexual?

++++ The Vancouver Study says 8 to 20 years less than you or me. There seems to be very little other data on this subject. The Gay Community is in denial on the subject and political pressure is clearly against performing some real science and publishing the results.

The question conflates multiple risk categories, because not all homosexuals engage in risky behavior. Even with current treatments, a 35 year old with HIV might be expected to live about 20 years less than a healthy 35 year old. At age 65 the decrease in life expectance might be much less, maybe 5 years as a guess.

It's an interesting question, but I don't think there is any good answer. The Vancouver study was of "a large Canadian urban centre from 1987 to 1992". The problem with using that as the basis is that HIV treatment was not as effective 20+ years ago as it is today. Since the American Psychiatric Association decreed that homosexuality was not a mental illness in 1974, it's probably about as difficult to get gov't funding to study this issue as it is to get gov't funding to disprove Anthropogenic Global Warming. I came across one study that concluded that there is no difference in life expectancy in male homosexuals (I don't believe that this is even remotely possible) but that lesbians had a shorter life expectancy because their suicide rate was higher.

Pat, you are making a mistake. If she comes over, she has violated the order and so have you. It’s a no win situation. I would have told her politely no. Then if she shows up not let her in while I’m calling 911. She violated to order merely by calling you. I do hope you are keeping documentation. Not the time, plane, date of all interactions by her. You may need that when and if you ever end up in front of a judge. Just my thirty year law enforcement advice.

Do you know any black people? Do you have black friends? And I’m not talking about ghetto thug trash and welfare queens, but the good ole Southern black person who is a good Christian and really a good ole boy just like other Southerners...?

The reason I say this is because I do. And we don’t sit around listening to rap or hip hop but these are guys I can talk frankly to and don’t see my every word and thought as racist and white privilege.

However, they do very much remember the flag waved in their face during those bad times 50 years or so ago, and it is a negative symbol with them.

Can’t we tone it down just a little, or at least agree that THE flag was used unfairly against them then?

Many blacks I speak with realize all the various nuances of the time before the War and what their peoples’ heritage was. My good black friend at Auburn U. is actually descended from one of the biggest WHITE plantation owners who was a Civil War Confederate Colonel. He’s got more “royalty” in his blood than me. Sometimes I call him “Massa”!

Pat - Read the Order. I am pretty sure it is not reciprocal against her contacting you or coming around you, but it could be as you are in a state different from mine.

She could be setting you up.

You are right of course. My advice to her was based on the laws in my state. Delaware may be different. I do know that the orders in many states read the same as Tennessee law. She should read the order, but in any case she should seriously rethink any contact whatsoever with the daughter and document everything.

SpaceX blew up today.

The International Space Station will have to find a new caterer.

Too bad NASA’s budget is now going to “entitlements”.
