It claims to be the first radio station of its kind in the United States and its getting a lot of different listeners. “We’re like 420 friendly, we play music for stoners, we have marijuana comedy, this summer we’re giving away trips to Amsterdam and Jamaica,” Gary Ganja said as he started a show in mid-June. The radio station at Smokin’ 94.1, which includes DJ’s named Mary Jane, Ed Blaze, Stoney Reynolds and the owner Gary Ganja, started on June first. Its marijuana themed from what goes out over-the-air down to the décor inside the office space and, for now, it’s still commercial free.

Ummmmmmmm. In Boston, in the late 70s, most of the radio stations fit this format. I'm sure that was true in many places.

These guys weren’t alive in the 70’s or they’d be embarrassed by how retro this turns out to be. Nobody on FR has ever heard of them, of course, but I remember this band named Pink Floyd...

It absolutely fits the format, lol.

I guess it beats the inane new stations.

It is odd how many younger people really like the music. (But what is there not to like?)

I smoke two joints in the morning, I smoke two joints at night
I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, and then I smoke two more.

Oh, my daddy he once told me, “Son, you be hard working man”
My mama she once told me, “Son, you do the best you can”
But then one day I met a man who came to me and said
“Hard work good and hard work fine, but first take care of head”

So now,
I smoke two joints when I get up, in the car I smoke two joints
I smoke two joints when I play video game? And at every ten thousand points
(I smoke two joints)
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, and then I smoke two more

Oh, my daddy he once told me, “Son, you be hard working man”
My mama she once told me, “Son, you do the best you can”
But then one day I met a man who came to me and said
“Hard work good and hard work fine, but first take care of head”

I smoke two joints in the morning, I smoke two joints at night
I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, and then I smoke two more
SMOKE TWO JOINTS
That’s what I do
SMOKE TWO JOINTS
Come and smoke two joints with me in the morning
SMOKE TWO JOINTS
Come and smoke two joints with me in the afternoon, yeah
SMOKE TWO JOINTS
Hey, would you rather smoke two joints or would you rather do your homework?
SMOKE TWO JOINTS
I knew you were going to say that!

I remember when one guy out here in LA got fired for actually saying on the air one late evening something like, “I’m just sitting here firing up this ball of hash and putting on some tunes for you all” when I was in college.
