The driving test here requires a long stretch of backing up in a straight line, and making a 3-point turn in the middle of a 2-lane road (without a hair’s-breadth of tire off the pavement). I guess they expect local drivers to do these things and want to make sure they can do it “safely.”

Why do fork lift trucks have steering on the rear axle?

Pulling forward into a regular spot means backing out...at which time you could slow other drivers in the aisle.

Backing into a regular spot could slow other drivers in the aisle too.

No difference but the timing.

Separately, how did we end up talking about such silliness after the Supreme Legislature just completed a coup of our republic? Comic relief maybe.

Outside the South, only a few states require only one license plate. Most require front and rear plates.

Actually run over backing accidents are too common.Too many have run over there own kids and if they backed in they probably would have seen the little tyke.
At Bell Tel if you didn’t back into a spot you should have parked on the street with the cones out.The cones force the driver to retrieve them when they leave forcing the driver to do a walk around.
If you didn’t back in or use the cones, you were suspended,Period

UPS may still have the same practice. At one time if they backed into something its a day off because they should not have been backing.

In both situations, we can’t do anything to change it. People are going to drive however they drive, no matter what I think about it, and the Supreme Court decisions are sitting there waiting to be enforced on us, no matter what we say.

We could exchange cat pictures ...

“If a car is on private property it is of no business of anyone. Your car only needs tags if it is on a public road.”

Right you are! So Jacksonville will pass this law and they will get sued, and after making it tough on their own law-abiding citizens for a few years, some a$$hole in a black robe will finally get around to telling the city that their law is in conflict with state law. But those who were abused won’t likely get any redress.

I hate it when people back into parking spaces.

I always back into my driveway. Makes it easier to get groceries out of my minivan. And I live in Jacksonville too. Uh oh...

At low speeds and with a long overhang on one end (see p/u truck).

“It’s not a blight if you can’t see the car.”

But if you leave your refrigerator (or any other household appliance) in your driveway, you will have to have it “licensed,”according to the article. Code Enforcement is the municipality’s answer to the Homeowners Association. They are both corrupt ways to get money out of residents. Both employ people who are leftovers from Nazi Germany!

would make it illegal for residents to park their cars in any manner that prevents law enforcement from seeing their rear license plates from the street.

what about people that park the car in their garages?....you can not see the plate then

They can’t read the plates with automatic scanners that way.

I’m guessing.

Finally, some important laws! Good thing we have no other problems in the USA!
