Don’t be fooled. Ben and Jerry sold their company to Unilever many years ago. This is a major corporation using its best avenue to increase acceptance of the agenda.
It’s a not so clever marketing move.
B&J is closely identified with Leftist causes to begin with, so it’s not like they’ll lose many customers here. Packaging it as a special commemorative edition, with the press and word of mouth mass exposure for the name change, will drive a major spike in their sales, will create long term brand loyalty and entice a lot of people to try it and switch to it.
Pretty much a no brainer for them. And I’d guess that once the novelty wears off they quietly switch the name back under the auspices of being “retro”.
