Virginia Democrats are giving away tickets to Hillary Clinton's speech tonight

The Democratic Party of Virginia is currently giving away free tickets to an event featuring Hillary Clinton later tonight.

Clinton is headlining the party's annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner on Friday evening. Though the event is raising money for the Virginia Democrats rather than her presidential bid, it is considered an important campaign appearance for Clinton. The dinner is Clinton's first campaign stop in Virginia, a crucial swing state. It's also one of her first stops outside of the early primary states.

Tickets for the event are being sold for $30 and $125. However, on Friday afternoon, some Virginia Democrats received an email advertising "FREE TICKETS" to the dinner. The email was given to Business Insider by a source. It contained a promotional code to get $30 tickets to the event for free.

If the beast is as popular as the state run media tells us, why are they giving the tickets away?

With the Left trying to railroad everything they’ve ever thought of through before Obama’s turn ends, Hillary’s going to have a tough time filling seats. Even with Democrats.

It does not matter that people might not want to attend one of her speeches. Millions and millions of Americans, most likely a majority, are still going to vote for her.

This was held at the Patriot Center, George Mason University....over in Fairfax (deep in the heart of liberal Virginia). It should be noted that the Patriot Center Arena holds roughly 10,000 seats.

Whoever picked this venue for her appearance didn’t really think over the implication of empty seats being noticed. It’s not a problem if you seat 9,000 people in the place (folks don’t usually notice empty seats then). But if you can’t even fill 5,000 seats....it’ll be obvious to those who attend that there is a problem.

My humble guess is that they woke up three days ago and knew they were barely at the 5,000 ticket point. With no way to cancel....they went to issuing as many free tickets as possible.

I should add...Virginia over the past decade has gone to being one of the five ‘big’ swing states where a little momentum could carry a candidate to a win. Rural Virginia is roughly 75-percent Republican. Urban Fairfax/Arlington is roughly 75-percent Democrat.

Free tickets?? At this point, anyone who paid $30,000 to be in her presence must feel like a complete schnook! ;)

Crazy people. No one but media talking heads and disgruntled women -- the same in many cases -- like Hillary, but the talking heads make it seem like she's riding the wave of History!

It's pretty obvious that famous "accident" she had was a stroke. Her cadence when giving speeches gives it away. I don't think she'll make it past the primaries.

She buses in her own "astroturf" so this article makes me extremely skeptical. Hecklers make her lose her temper and fold like a wet noodle. "Unscripted" questions could too.

Jefferson-Jackson?

Jefferson Finis Davis was an American soldier and politician who was the President of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War.

Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson was a Confederate general during the Civil War and a Confederate commander after General Robert E. Lee.

Employing liberal "logic", this event had racist overtones and clearly should have been canceled.

I would love to see the Democrats’ internal polling because they are acting like they’re trying to fill a bucket list after their doctor told them they only had a few months too live. It must be ugly.

This would be a good thing if the Republicans weren’t acting like they died back in the 1980s.

I think you are right. I think this country will now elect ANYBODY psssing out freebies and goodies...unless it all collapses before then, and they find themselves fighting for expired canned liver in the aisles of the Winn Dixies of the world.

See Hillary really cares about the little people, she is giving everyone a chance to come and worship at her feat at exactly no cost to them. Poor people love her because she cares about them.

Lord help me if I really need this. </sarcasm>

I cannot tell you how many times I have read anecdotal accounts of long lines to vote in Republican precincts, or huge crowds in Pennsylvania turning out to see Mitt Romney, or polls that consistently “oversample” democrats.

Every presidential election Republicans downplay Democrat strengths.

Has there been ANY poll that has NOT had Hillary Clinton beating ANY Republican?

The GOPe continues to bumble along with its multitude of clown car candidates. Making fun of Hillary’s supposed lack of popularity is a fool’s task that will mask the inherent difficulty of defeating her.

“The beast wants to give convicted felons the right to vote.”

Some felons, not all, should be given back their right to vote.
