My allegiance to this country is gone, and I used to be so highly patriotic. Its a very sad day. Let the chinese or russians have it, my allegiance is to God, I am done with trying to change this liberal godless cancer of a country.

I think Cruz is onto the right idea.

One thing I’m worried about though is that the Judicial Elections might backfire. I certainly would not want to see Antonin Scalia removed from the SCOTUS! So to remedy this in his proposal, I suggest Cruz put this Election of Judges on a day where the right people would come out and vote....like Tax Day. This would maximize the number of good guys voting.

I know that some here may disagree with this, but:

Ted Cruz would make a superb SCOTUS justice himself. That's the job that's most suited to his talents, intellect, and background, more so than POTUS or Senator.

...I am proposing an amendment to the United States Constitution that would subject the justices of the Supreme Court to periodic judicial-retention elections.

If Ted Cruz knows he would never get 67 votes to impeach a justice then he must also know he'll never get 67 votes to pass this amendment.

For now the Supreme Court has stolen our republic.

We can take it back. Impeachment and a constitutional amendment would fix this. Neither will happen. Thus, the republic is lost.

Scalia can give us all the rhetorical candy he can come up with, but until he resigns he is a rank hypocrite,

"It’s over. It’s been over for years. We all consented to living under the Law of the United States of America and consented to pay taxes TO THAT NATION. That nation NO. LONGER. FLIPPING. EXISTS. and hasn’t for years. What you must now decide is whether or not you CONSENT to be governed by an explicitly, openly evil tyrannical oligarchy. The most clear and obvious sign of consent is the paying of taxes. Just sayin’."

The Congress can impeach a supreme court member for lack of “good behavior”. Why haven’t they???

If Congress believes the court is acting politically, they can impeach those members that are.

Why haven’t they??

Since the rule of law is no longer being followed here is something that I might go for. When Ted Cruz gets elected, he creates an EO that states marriage is between one man and one woman, and that as the executive branch he will enforce the EO.

Not only are the Court’s opinions untethered to reason and logic, they are also alien to our constitutional system of limited and divided government. By redefining the meaning of common words, and redesigning the most basic human institutions, this Court has crossed from the realm of activism into the arena of oligarchy.

We owe King George, III an apology, for we are no longer willing to fight the tyranny of unelected and unrestrained thugs in robes.

If Mr. Cruz is really serious about this problem then maybe we should get serious about repealing the 17th amendment and return to the system of selecting senators which brought us great statesmen like Daniel Webster instead of the clowns the people elect today.

Wow, Cruz nails it on the Obamacare amendment.

As for gay marriage, why don’t they define Gay Marriage as “Gayrriage”? Or “Homoarriage?”

Keeping it as a SEPARATE definition preserves the notion that Marriage is ONLY BETWEEN 1 man & 1 woman.

Let them have their cute wedding ceremonies and wedding rings and hospital visitation rights and nothing more.

I think a primary reason they want “marriage” recognition is for spousal health care benefits, for which there will be a huge cost to society. It’s all about freebies.

I believe it is naive to think we can legislate away gayness. It’s not going away.

At this point I personally don’t care what the butt plumbers do in the privacy of their own homes even though I find it disgusting.

“...Congress’s backbone....”

Congress??? Backbone??? [crickets....]

Nope. Two words that don’t belong together.

Especially with the Boehner’s GOP-e in control.

The Court is ignoring the old laws and rules.

What makes you think they’re going to follow new laws and rules?

“That is unacceptable. On the substantive front, I have already introduced a constitutional amendment to preserve the authority of elected state legislatures to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman”

And he has the necessary super-majorities lined up in both houses, and/or the state legislatures? If not, is he actively working to obtain them? This is a gesture.
