The second amendment was for protecting against just such a tyrannical government.

We should be uniting with them, building coalitions, not attacking them.

When Abbott comes out and states that the SCOTUS ruling is illegitimate, and order County clerks to stand down, then I will get behind him 100%, up to and including coming to Texas to stand with the Governor come what may. Until then, he caved.

Yawn! I've been called much worse. I prefer God-fearing, red blooded, well armed, ready to die for my rights American, but I suppose if you consider that to be an "ass", I don't rightly need your ignorant opinion anyhow.

“We should be uniting with them, building coalitions, not attacking them”

Well said. There are even those of the homosexual persuasion who feel that homosexual marriage is wrong and also that it should not be mandated by a high federal court. We are united with them, too, even if only in this one narrow issue. It is time to consider the future of our country, even the continued existence of our civilization and find pertinent common ground to unite.

We the people are the ones who cave and none of us will practice open civil disobedience. We have chosen to obey these traitors and tyrants, because to do otherwise is so very inconvenient, expensive and strenuous.

Preach it! The problem is, freedom requires great sacrifice. We, as Americans, are entirely unwilling to make the sacrifice, because we would rather NOT live in freedom in liberty - we'd rather give over all responsibility to the FedGov and let them take care of us. That way, we don't risk our jobs, our homes, our cars, our toys, our big screen TV's, our big sports games and the booze we drink while watching them! Sacrifice all that? Hell NO!!!

“LOL.

If you’re calling for it from an open, monitored public forum, you don’t have what it takes to help execute it.”

Why did you send me this privately?

Actually, I’m right. The state has a very limited interest in licensing marriage. SCOTUS just said that marriage can be any old thing that someone sues and successfully gets a judge to agree to, so the state’s interest is now null.

Simply continuing the licencing as it is opens the door for more court determinations. If Texas immediately stops issuing licenses, and the state legislature follows through with no longer recognizing marriage, it will mean FAR more for the fight than simply ‘acting pouty.’

The state would eventually give in over the licenses. Cease them, there’s nothing to give in on.

My wife just pointed out that no preacher should rely on the government to pass a “pastor protection” act. The pastors should be depending on God to protect them. Unless they believe Abbott has more power than the one they serve.

Well I’m sure glad you’re “well armed and ready”. Maybe you’d like to put your money where your mouth is. Just barge right in and order the county clerks to stand down. Or not. But if you’re just as likely to be fragging me & the good Governor, as shooting at the real enemy, should it come to that, I’ll be watching you. Point being, attacking our allies aids and abets the enemy. The LGBT mafia loves divisiveness in our ranks, all the while they’ve been presenting a united front to the world which is totally false.(Read their play book: After the Ball. ) It’s precisely this false united front strategy that resulted in their victory. Shouldn’t we, at this juncture, focus on exposing the lies and helping their coalitions to self-destruct, instead of turning on each other?
Btw, I doubt you’ve actually read Abbot’s statement. It is eloquent, IMO. Read it.

My concern is that the ruling will be used as a basis for further lawsuits; suits that will hit at those performing the ceremony itself.
They have already gone after wedding-related people such as bakers and florists.

It was signed before the SCOTUS ruling.

It was a preemptive measure.

It had wide support.

That will no doubt happen.

The courts have always put the law in a superior position over the exercise of religion, but seeing as how the state is able to fully perform marriage according to its terms, nobody is deprived if the church turns them away.

Now, that's the logical and legal answer, but the law is not bound to adhere to logic and morality. Law is about brute force. Whatever the judge orders will be "the law," for what it is worth. And then the pastors will have to decide between observing the law, or not.

Who ties your shoelaces for you??? Are you really that ignorant, or are you just a leftist statist thug spouting off? You can take your ignorant statement and take a hike.

I read it before making any statements. You're right, it is VERY eloquent - and sheer symbolism over substance. In plain words, kabuki theater, and does NOTHING to actually respond like a patriot to this ignorance. BUT, it's clear you support the SCOTUS opinion, so have fun with your deviant friends.
