Scalia Slams Roberts as Biased In Obamacare Cases
National Review ^ | 6/25/2015 | Joel Gehrke

Posted on 06/25/2015 10:30:47 AM PDT by Servant of the Cross

In a blistering dissent from the majority in King v. Burwell this morning, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said President Obama’s signature domestic policy achievement should be called “SCOTUScare” rather than Obamacare, in light of how many times Chief Justice John Roberts has intervened to protect the law from a crippling legal defeat.

Scalia argued that Roberts rewrote the law twice in 2012, and has now done so a third time in his King decision, which allows the IRS to continue providing subsidies to people who purchase insurance in the federal government’s health-care exchange.

“The somersaults of statutory interpretation they have performed (‘penalty’ means tax, ‘further [Medicaid] payments to the State’ means only incremental Medicaid payments to the State, ‘established by the State’ means not established by the State) will be cited by litigants endlessly, to the confusion of honest jurisprudence,” Scalia wrote in his dissent. “And the cases will publish forever the discouraging truth that the Supreme Court of the United States favors some laws over others, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to uphold and assist its favorites.”

SCOTUScare ... being liberal means not having to obey laws or even the Constitution's branches of government ...

Roberts usually sides with the corporate interest.

By the way, he slammed Roberts. Did he mention Ruthie at all?

Nancy P was right. They had to pass the law to know what was in it, but only after the Supreme Court decided to creatively interpret what they wanted it to mean.

Words have no meaning anymore. Heaven help the US constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Robert usually sides with the people who have gay photos of him and then demonstrate they know he skipped most of the legal paperwork to adopt his kids.

If not Roberts it would have been Kennedy. “Law” never had a chance.

I have posted this on other Roberts thread because I think it needs to be said
my guess is that when his two kid that he is being black mailed on turn eighteen that the left will have a big problem because I believe at one point Roberts saw him self as a man of principal and the hard left was able to get him to break all his principals to protect the children he and his wife adopted.
for any that don’t know he adopted two children in south America that turned out were citizens of Ireland and the adoption he and his wife did was illegal, It is believed that those related to the children are holding this over his head controlling what rulings he has been giving in the court. the reason why all of this is not being investigated is the black mail did not start tell Obama was in office and in control of the justice department. plus the reality for Justice Roberts is that because of treaties if the family in Ireland try’s to claim the kids he has 0 chance of keeping them legaly

Roberts could have been blackmailed. He did change his mind in the last hour the first time and then rewrote ObamaCare.

Yep, I wonder if his adopted children will ever know the terrible price the US will pay for their upbringing? Roberts’ shame should go down through the ages.

Well I think that’s even worse if true. We’ve been fooled.

For a blast from the past try this link:

I objected strongly to Roberts’ appointment when it was made.

Time to get hold of copies of the photos that Obama has of Roberts and publish them and be damned!

We're in a world where there is no conspiracy theory that is too far out of bounds any longer.

Probably not, since he doesn’t want her to get upset and die before we get a Repubican President!

The rule of law is the legal principle that law should govern a nation, as opposed to being governed by arbitrary decisions of individual government officials.

Well, thats the ball game. Anyone believing that we still have a constitutional republic or that it can be saved through constitutional means, please kill yourself - you are too stupid to be allowed to live.

The good people at National Review are either oblivious or shell-shocked regarding this ruling.

Although they are no doubt tempering their commentary so as to not appear overwrought, this was not just an ordinary decision, but one of great import.
