I don’t know. But many Jewish Americans are paying a lot of money for DNA testing. Many are really concerned that they are not “real Jews.” I worked with one that was proud to exclaim that her DNA testing traced back to the Israeli area.
I didn’t have the heart to tell her that according to the Old Testament we are all descended from Adam and Even and that therefore everyone can trace themselves back through that entire region at some point in our bloodline.

I don’t believe I’ve ever seen an article in a Jewish publication where the author is agonizing he might be a Khazar.
And you should probably brush up on the rudiments of DNA.

It might also have something to do with the number of recessive genetic disorders we carry from over 1000 years of mostly endogymous marriage.
