HOUSTON, Texas — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, issued the following statement welcoming Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal into the race for the 2016 Republican nomination for President of the United States:
“I have great respect for Bobby Jindal. He is a friend, a man of faith, and a fearless champion for conservative values. I am glad he is joining the field of GOP candidates and welcome him to the competition! As an effective, principled governor of Louisiana, he brings many talents and strengths to this race that will raise the bar for us all and prepare the eventual GOP nominee to beat Hillary in 2016.”
Most of those who would support Jindal would be natural supporters of Cruz as well. It is wise not to anger those whose vote you might need later. Plus, Jindal is a possible VP pickalthough I doubt that a Texas/Louisiana ticket would be our best option geographically. (Note: As I’ve mentioned before, Cruz, Jindal, and Santorum are my top three.)
Careful Ted, don’t overdo the wiseguy behavior, especially at the expense of another conservative. Focus on issues. Even Rand Paul, as much as he enjoys a good debate, has been more mindful here lately. Jindal will sink or swim under his own power, or lack thereof. At this time, Jindal does not present a threat to the Cruz goals.
What are you talking about? Cruz sounded sincere to me.
“What are you talking about? Cruz sounded sincere to me.”
Agreed. Cruz was being sincere from the sound of it.
What are you spouting about?
I detect no snark in Cruz's statement. Merely traditional Texan courtesy!
I don’t see a wise guy attitude here. Since Cruz and Jindal are on the same side of the fence on issues, each can lend strength to the other and united stomp down the Bush-Rubio mind set of the Establishment. The Repubs can do well to unite on issues instead of let the Democrats do all the talking.
Wasn’t Bobby in the House of Represenatives at one time? If so, he fulfills the criteria for a Congressman and governor. Just saying...............I want to hear more from him.
Ted’s no Goober, unlike Bobby.
Yes he was a Rep.and his record is conservative. Go to his website and lots of your questions will be answered.
I like Jindal. It concerns me that he is not doing well in his state right now. I don’t really know any of the details, but I’ve always had a good impression of him.
Cruz - Jindal would be an interesting ticket.
