His election was a major mistake, but it was also highly manipulated and there was fraud involved (an extra ballot that prevented the election of an orthodox successor). But at the same time, his papacy has revealed the enemies of the Faith, who were clearly out there awaiting their moment, and since he has promoted them, we know who they are.

BXVI said the Church might be a lot smaller and he was right. The current Pope, Leonardo Boff, and the LCWR (big integral ecology freaks) might get to keep the Vatican and all of the official Church, but it won’t last. And the Lord will send somebody completely unexpected to gather us together and step into the shoes.

I suggest that this be moved to the Religion Forum.

This guy is way out there.

I’m not Catholic, so my attention to Popes over the years has not been too great. But this one is making a mockery of a Christian religion.

Or maybe, since the majority of Catholics vote Democrat, they are finally getting a Pope that truly represents them?

I am Catholic and a Knight, which requires me to support the Pope. I am actually supporting the Pope by not supporting his scientific conclusion in hopes of not embarrassing the Church. I don’t want him to be known in history as Pope Watermelon I, because his flock will have suffered as a result.

A political encyclical in not a religious topic, in my opinion. This is world politics and social policy. The ironies and logic involved can’t help but lead to references to the religion that is involved.

If I understand the tenets of the Catholic faith correctly, and not being Catholic I don’t pretend to know them fully, I do not understand how a Catholic in good conscience could vote for any democrat. Not under the current democrat party, the party which is atheist/communist in all but name. They may not like everything about conservatives, but there is nothing about conservatism that is directly opposed to the basic tenets of their faith.

So maybe its all just lip service for them. Hey, Bingo game starts at 9:00! Tap the keg!

I don’t get it either.

The wife of a good friend sees herself as seriously Catholic. Yet she is a flaming socialist, gung ho for unlimited government funded abortions with no parental notification for minors. And she laments the fact that the Vatican doesn’t sell everything and give the money to 3rd world countries.

Her facebook page posts are 50% Love Obama / Love ObamaCare.

I am a Catholic. Unfortunately within our ranks we have a lot among us who are big time liberals and big government and union activists.

Recent voting patterns in the US do show however, that racial identification, more than anything else, determines voting behavior. In the last presidential election, 59% of white Catholics voted for MR over BHO, nearly identical to the overall white vote. BHO won the overall “Catholic vote” because 3/4 of all Hispanics voted for him. Hispanics now account for about 1/3 of all Catholics in the US.

Best thing for the K of C. Don’t get too involved either supporting or opposing, because you don’t want the new Vatican authorities to shut you down. You’ll know when the time is right. And it will happen, because this can’t go on.

The Knights I know here are disturbed by Francis and his statements but nobody knows what to do, since once upon a time, supporting the Pope was a guarantee of orthodoxy. Not anymore. Also, a lot of Knights and their wives are involved in lay marriage counseling, etc., and they’re particularly stressed.

In the long run, I think that the Knights and those like them will save the Church.

This Pope came from a background steeped in liberation theology. IMHO he is the worst Pope I’ve seen in my 65 years on this earth.

“f I understand the tenets of the Catholic faith correctly, and not being Catholic I don’t pretend to know them fully, I do not understand how a Catholic in good conscience could vote for any democrat.”

I wonder the same thing about the Jews. Like the Catholics, the Jews vote liberal RAT, despite the fact that it flies in the face of Judaism. And so it is with a lot of our so-called “mainstream religions.” So much to say they are “drawing near to Him with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him.”

I am Catholic and a Knight, which requires me to support the Pope.

Neither of those two requires you to support an obviously errant pope...in fact, if you believe the pope to be preaching error, it’s your duty to acknowledge that and work against it...

I am actually supporting the Pope by not supporting his scientific conclusion in hopes of not embarrassing the Church.

...which it seems you are doing...

Not really. Not in comparison. Not in terms of human suffering, for sure.
