Thanks Nikki and Gramnesty.
I can understand Haley and the two SC Senators call for the removal, given the emotions involved in their state. But what really sealed the deal was that turd Reinse Priebus, Romney, and other national Republicans jumping in.
All they had to say was that the Governor of SC was handling the issue. And noted that the state Senator who was going to introduce a bill to remove the flag was going to do so in December, after everything had died down.
Nope, once the RNC jumped in, that opened the floodgates.
These mass-media feeding frenzies don't last forever. Soon enough something comes along to attract the press's attention and they're off on that. And things are back to what they were before.
If you've got a lot emotionally invested in Confederate symbols, or if you're keeping very close score of victories and defeats, what's going on now may rankle, but for most of the country taking down the CBF after 50 years (or 150 years) isn't a big thing. It doesn't, for example, mean that Sally Kohn is going to be setting the national agenda.
