Report: Walmart to halt sales of Confederate-flag related merchandise

Walmart (WMT) will reportedly pull items displaying the Confederate flag, according to a report late Monday.

CNNMoney cited the world's biggest retailer as saying it "never want(s) to offend anyone with the products that we offer."

The move comes after a 21-year old assailant gunned down nine people at a historic African-American church in Charleston, South Carolina. The state has a Confederate flag hanging at its capitol building, something many have said is a reminder of racially-charged bigotry in the U.S.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley on Monday called for the flag's removal, saying, "it's time to move the flag from the Capitol grounds."

A Walmart spokesperson told CNNMoney it has "taken steps to remove all items promoting the confederate flag from our assortment -- whether in our stores or on our web site."

I just hope I live long enough to see Walmart file Chapt 11.

I used to be a fan of Walmart, but that stopped long ago. I still occasionally shop at their stores, but they are a cesspool. Most of their clients these days are the EBT crowd, who treat Walmart employees like trash. Furthermore, Walmart knows this and wants MOAR immigration, legal or not. For Walmart, more welfare clients = more customers.

That being said, their prices are damn low.

"Jeez louise. Talk about irrationality in our society. This had nothing to do with this situation, and if it did, it’s still a tiny isolated incident. Let’s start holding the everything to the same standard. Including government officials. One corruption charge with lobbyists? The law they influenced is gone tomorrow. One drug deal gone bad in South Chicago. Everyone from the mayor the police chief is fired. This is insane."

And G-d forbid their is another loon like this sick soul that wears Chairman Mao or Che Guevara garb will this mob-mentality demand all those types of clothing etc be forbidden as well? I hear crickets as to the silence on the left since they will not answer...

Very few did. If it were controversial back then they wouldn’t have allowed it to be so prominently displayed on one of the most popular TV shows of the time. And at a time of increasing racial awareness. There were dozens present at every rock concert containing at least one hand from south of the mason Dixon line.

OK which is worse for the well being of the United States, the confederate flag or the flood of imports from China? Which one do you think that the wizards at WMT will ban????

It is so sad what is happening to our country...
