It had nothing to do with the Confederate flag, but the brand has been tarnished (or destroyed) by him, so to speak.

I think in a lot of ways supporters of the Confederate flag as a non-racist “localist” symbol should have been more vigilant and outspoken in preventing loonies from adopting it. Roof wasn’t attracted by the flag, but by a group of racist loonies who appealed to his insanity and who unfortunately were often shown with Confederate flags.

The way it is now, however, after these shootings, nobody will be able to look at that flag again without having seriously negative thoughts, and it shouldn’t fly over official buildings.

It's up to the people and their representatives in South Carolina. Much like the owner of the Washington Redskins who wants to keep that name and mascot, more power to him. Just because someone like Harry Reid gets their PC underpanties all in a twist over it, doesn't mean it's wrong.

I'm from Arizona and several other states in the west, live in Florida but have lived in South Carolina, as well. From my personal experience, most people who display the Confederate flag or stickers or decals of it, are just folks who identify with their southern heritage and roots and are neither bigots or racists.

I don't care one way of the other. The flag will probably come down from atop the state house eventually because of political correctness. But it won't stop folks from displaying it all over the south.

ISIS wasn't attracted by the snazzy black flag, they joined up for white Toyota trucks with Russian anti aircraft guns in the back. Don't tell the media types about this. Toyota would have to apologize. For something.

The left is all about symbols. Without them, they could not figure out how people think. If they don't know how you think, they can't charge you with a hate crime.

A person flying the flag belongs in the racist box. A pro gun bumper sticker, put them in the criminal racist box. A rainbow flag, give them the medal of honor and put them in the hero box.

I want them going nuts trying to figure out how to put me in all the boxes. I have flags and bumper stickers for all the bad boy boxes. Perhaps the ISIS types can dismantle me so a piece can go in each box.

I hope this sounds as dumb as the media flatulence about racist flags running around killing people.

Could never understand the hatred over a Confederate battle flag. It was never flown over the first slave ship that brought blacks to America. That flag was Old Glory. It was never proudly held high by soldiers as they massacred the plains Indian wholesale for years and years. That flag was Old Glory. Old Glory was also the preferred flag of the KKK. Hell, the CSA battle flag, or more appropriately the Second National, is not even the official flag of the Confederacy, it was just one of many battle flags.
