If we start obliterating all offensive symbols and words from our landscape, we no longer have the first amendment or America for that matter. Like it or not, the Confederate flag represents HISTORY. It is a REMINDER. Destroying historical symbols is something ISIS does, and I see this ‘flag removal’ movement no different than what ISIS does.

What history does the Confederate flag represent, flying where it does?

What is it a reminder of?

Because, the history of the flag in this particular location is that it began flying there not as some innocuous reminder of history, but as part of the backlash against the civil rights movement in the 1960s.

I don’t think anybody is talking about making the flag illegal just not flying it at state buildings.

You can still fly one on private property.
