Lawlessness: On Day 768 of the IRS scandal targeting political dissidents, the tax agency said it has more emails to release. Only it can't release them until September because it must ensure there are no duplicates. Baloney.

Missing yet another court-ordered deadline on June 12, the Internal Revenue Service has failed to release 6,400 new emails found on the hard drive of Lois Lerner, former tax exempt organization chief, pertaining to the agency's admitted targeting of administration critics.

If they’re going to lie they should at least come up with some credible stories. The average first grade kid can do better than this.

Missed “another deadline”.
Can’t a judge order the big wigs at the irs held in contempt?
How about hanging a few of them?

The fact they don’t just shows how -not- serious any one in DC is about justice. They merely do this to wear us down and it works. Already none of us believe they will prosecute anyone.

The goal is for us to stop caring what Govt does with anything and continue paying ever increasing taxes. They will likely achieve that goal because changing this dynamic takes work that interferes with Game of Thrones and Football and gets people disinvited from neighborhood social functions.

Just throw that grinning little prick that heads the IRS into jail and tell him he’s not getting out until his tribe starts delivering docs on time.

Now, instead of that dog-ate-my-homework claim, the excuse is that the IRS only wants to make sure there are no duplicates in the bunch, a peculiar fastidiousness given how the agency has stopped answering most taxpayer phone calls .

BS. Myself or any other competent programmer can write a little program to find/remove duplicates in under 1 hr, (*) and run it across a few thousand emails in a few minutes or less. Besides, who the {expletive} cares if there are dupes, just release the {expletive} info you lying {expletives}. Hold them in contempt (I certainly do) and throw them in jail.

(*) Not making that up. I actually wrote a similar program to scan through digital images on our home file server. We take lots of pics, and admittedly don't always organize them as well as we should. My program looks for duplicates by reading in the raw bytes of the image (.jpg, .png, etc), generating an MD5 hash, and then storing the hash and pathname to the file in an internal data structure. (a map keyed on that hash value) When it finds a duplicate hash it is a pretty good bet that it isn't an accidental collision. It prints out the duplicate paths and moves one copy to a folder to be deleted. If for any reason I think they are not duplicates I can move them back.

They’d need to make sure there aren’t any duplicates if the emails had been edited before they were printed. Too much chance of ending up with two copies of the same email that aren’t exactly the same.

It’s not the excuses they give, it’s who accepts them. The correct answer is “Who cares if they’re duplicates? Just hand them over, you pricks.”
