Feh...The choppers we had were only for medivaccing one or two people at a time. Being shot down, with no parts to fix them. tells me YOU never saw a chopper in the sky with a Chinese pilot, a Nork Pilot or even an Americam pilot. You need to get with Rachel Dolezar(?). Stolen Pallor.

As opposed to what? Training in Canada?

Like I said, was most of the fighting done on urban terrain in that war?

That you can cite one or two battles isn’t an answer to that question.

I’m curious as to the privately owned, public use airport. How’s that work? I’ve been involved with several airport design projects on big airports and small municipals. The private strips were built and maintained by the live-in, fly-in folks that had direct access to the runway. I’ve been approached to allow a similar development to build homes with a taxiway to connect to connect “through the fence” to a public airport but this is not allowed on fed/state money supported airports.

I would take pictures and ask the those agencies whose pilots and aircraft are accessing this facility to stop this practice or send them a bill for services and potential repairs.

But on the flip side watching military grade aircraft is pretty cool.

Hue City was a hell of a battle. Many fights in VN happened in small villages. Guess you have to draw a line between “city” and “urban”.

As far as your question, IMO the next “war” the US military fights will start in the urban area and devolve into open terrain where they have the advantage in direct contact but will not have enough resources to control vast space. The other side will be foolish to take it to open country but they most likely will.

Well if they are preparing for a war in Canada they’d be training in canada.

So, in your mind, countries that you are planning to invade will allow you to train there prior to the conflict? You think that is a reasonable expectation?

So your explanation for this exercise is we’re going to invade a country similar to Kansas and Washington state?

“So your explanation for this exercise is we’re going to invade a country similar to Kansas and Washington state?”

No, you’re the one who is arguing that there is some great significance to where the military chooses to hold exercises.

I’m curious as to the privately owned, public use airport. How’s that work?

The airpark we live on is larger and busier than most residential airparks with an average of over 100,000 general aviation operations per year. This is almost as busy as the nearest municipal airport which is a larger facility.

There are 116 homes with hangars built around the airport and there is a full service FBO (Fixed Base Operator) with hangars, tie downs, rental planes, fuel, a flight school, and a full time mechanic.

The airport is currently owned by Norm who is in his 90s and owns the FBO. Arrangements have been negotiated for the homeowners association to purchase the airport at a future date. Currently the homeowners association pays for half the maintenance and taxes. If for some reason the FBO facilities are not leased to another business when ownership is transferred I would guess that there is a fairly good chance that the airport could revert to private use.

Currently the only operators who cause problems are the helicopter schools. They not only are disturbing to homeowners... they also tend to disrupt other flight operations because they often hover over the runway and taxiways when other aircraft are trying to use the facilities. This has been an ongoing issue but unfortunately it is not something the 90 year old airport owner seems to get too excited about.
