Well, the Mafia, at least, generally only killed its own in America - the anarchists were another story. Basically just like islamists - poor, young, unmarried men, generally, but married to a crazy ideology. One of the best things that Mussolini did was completely wipe them out.

BTW, my mother’s father was a BRUTAL mafiosa. Treated the kids so badly and the wife that none of the kids showed up at his funeral.
My other grandpa was a sweetheart :) So was my mother’s mother. Though she died when I was 6, but i remember her being kind.
