No. This is well deserved.
From NYC and embarrassed but dont know much about guns. for some reason, i thought Colt was really popular.
Yet, we’ll still be calling the bullets, .45” A.C.P., long after Colt is a distant memory....
“supported anti-2nd legislation”
Whu what?
ping
And .45 long Colt for revolver food.
They have good marketing but their products, when viewed objectively, just are unable to compete on price/performance, price/quality or really much of anything else any more. Add to that the deliberately crippled products they’ve shipped over the years (Google “small hole colt lower” and “colt lower block” for a couple of items), their terrible customer service, their undying-until-recently contempt for civilian buyers and poor customer service and you can see they have problems.
They’ve also taken bailout money at least once that I can recall. They’re the General Motors of guns at this point.
> supported anti-2nd legislation
Whu what?
That’s what I’m saying. What “pissing” did Colt do on the 2nd amendment?
The first I’ve heard of this too.
Colt supported the 94 AWB.
They also supported several NE gun control bills over the years until recently they finally figured out that 1) civilian sales were important and 2) they’d made it illegal to sell their products to civilians in several states despite solemn promises from the politicians they supported that this would not be the case.
wow. I had no idea. Who would be the bigshot on the block of gun manufacturers these days. I’m thinking of going to a range and i know Nothing i’m sorry to say.

There’s lots of very good manufacturers out there these days with excellent products. Many also have good products.
If popularity is any indication, Glock is probably the number one seller of handguns in the world at this point. I dislike most Glocks, but that’s mostly on an ergonomics and interface basis. They’re well built for the most part.
From your comments it sounds like patriots hurt Colts Defense.
PS And now Ruger SA pistols are eating Colt’s lunch.
...
Puns, the lowest form of humor.
See prior posts upthread; Colt spent much of the 90s supporting gun control.
More here, admittedly from a non-major news source; the interview was confirmed accurate by Colt, though. http://www.ncc-1776.org/tle1998/libe42-19980727-01.html
Er, many also have good prices, that is.
Sorry, here’s the original article in the Philly newspaper: http://articles.philly.com/1998-07-13/news/25738137_1_gun-control-proposals-gun-control-federal-gun
