I live in rural Florida on a farm. Lots of humidity. My roof is actually Galvalume, which is really a zinc-coated steel. Less pricey than aluminum but still looks good for many decades. I’ll be gone long before the roof has to be replaced.
It’s entertainment. How can we worry about the pricing of that?
Maybe YOUR grandma didn't weigh 200 lbs at 5'2"! Mine was a cook!
On my trip to Busch Gardens a few years ago, I didn’t see the ‘urban’ types that you see at Six Flags.
Since I’m reading this in the lobby of Disney’s Polynesian Resort and Villages, my opinion might be skewed...
I remember it well. I also loved the fact that older people had a “uniform” of sorts: the older women wore navy, brown or black rayon dresses, often with white polka dots, to church, with a hat and gloves and sensible shoes and a corset underneath that made hugging them feel like hugging a tree trunk. During the week they wore cotton “housedresses” with aprons that covered the breasts as well as the lap. The older men wore baggy grandpa front-pleat pants with cuffs and high waists, suspenders, a fedora, a flat cap or a straw boater, spectator shoes or wingtips, and if they took their coat off, frequently they would have elastic arm bands between the elbow and shoulder to keep their sleeves up and out of the soup.

Dear God I miss them...
that’s great....we are Contemporary Resort people ourselves...
I have a friend who works there and he tells me the minimum amount of money for a family of four to go is about $15,000 and that does not include spending money.
I'm getting to the age where I'm going to see them again sooner rather than later. They were the parents of the "Greatest Generation", and they were pretty great, too. Eisenhower was the last American president.
sure- if you’re staying for six months...
Parents would ration the tickets, taking turns on the different rides with their children.
That is no more.

To be fair, that $3.50 only covered admission to the park, not rides and indoor shows which required tickets. still I think we only spent about $15.00 per person to go there. Not long ago I found some unused tickets in my mother’s desk.
and those were per use tickets- once the tickets were done your day was over- unless you bought more tickets which increased your cost...today’s ticket is expensive but its ride as many rides as you like, as many times as you like until the park closes...
its not a comparison to say “it only cost $3.50 to get into WDW in 1971 and today its $100” its an agenda...
I am not wealthy, by any means, but I love Disney World, and the park ticket prices are fine by me...they create wonderful memories at that place. My problem is not so much ticket prices, it’S HOTEL PRICES!
I actually have a picture of myself in the park with absolutely no one near me...almost empty around the castle. That was three weeks before Christmas. I went first week in February this year and just about walked onto any ride or attraction I wanted. Bliss!
It was cheaper than a decent hotel (and tons cheaper than a Disney resort).
We had three bedrooms, fully furnished, including a kitchen with pots and dishes, and our own pool.
I was there for military business, and my per diem payed for it easily. They had a shuttle bus a block from the house that went straight to Disney. So I'd go to work in the car and my wife and son would head to Disney. I'd meet them in Epcot every night for dinner at a different "country."
