I wonder if people would be as upset if folks were walking through the garage with a notepad and pencil? Collecting the same info.

The cops have worked that way for decades. Watch the Godfather movies...they do it at the wedding scene.

The information can be used by the cops, or even Walmart to identify where cars are coming from. For example, where I own some property on the Canadian border, one of the stores had an intern going through the parking lot checking out how many canadian customers were there so they could adjust their over-the-border advertising.

I am not crazy about the idea, but we DO have to register our cars, and driving them about in public leaves us open to this stuff. I would not let them do it in my private parking lot.

I have come to the conclusion that I would almost rather not be camouflaged by a crowd...

I know it sounds silly, maybe hard to do...But imagine...hmmmmm...yeahhhhhh...;-)

I’ve been bugging my wife about getting one of those as a lawn ornament too...

I think you can get them for a good price...;-)

Might try to find a way to legally, maybe on the edge of legality, find a way to mask the plates from casual view from a drive by...

See how long it takes to really fish out those kinds of observations...

Obviously you don’t do that while your “on” the road...But when I am parked, it might be none of anyone’s bidness, from their point of view or capacity...

There are covers you can buy. They appear to be “polarized” so they cannot be seen at an angle.

In some states they are illegal because they cannot see the plates from “readers.”

In MA they switched to two plates about ten years ago. I am grandfathered. They keep telling me at the inspection station that my plates are too faded. I wipe them down and they pass. No way I am going to put a plate on the front of my car until someone forces me.

Out in the peoples socialist republic of californistan, an “E” tag is one issued to state or municipal vehicles marking them as being “Exempt” from fees, etc

About halfway down on the below link:

Way cool...

I want mine to look like it is just a static display...

Then when I crawl in and fire it up, train the turret, elevate and depress the main gun...Roll it right down the road...Surprise everyone...hehehe

not to mention “repo agents”

Police are using them for revenue enhancemsnets.

I suspect the future will have drop down plate blockers when parked.

They run the scanned plates against the database of all known stolen cars.

Well, if you haven’t renewed your registration, then I don’t blame them for giving you a ticket. It is your responsibility as a car owner.
