Debate the Bill in open or kill it.
I agree. I like Cruz but he is just selling out to the monied interests without regard for conservative voters demands that deal be made public before being approved.
The Trade Bill is a secret document. Had TPA Been approved we would have 60 days to read it before a Congressional vote. As it stands we are not getting to read it and I have no idea what the process is going forward.
In any case it is the norm that Trade Bills do not pass except via a TPA based system. So, with the failure of TPA, the Trade Bill is likely to fail as well.
Also note that, had it passed, it would be effective for 6 years including the First Term of the Ted Cruz Presidency.
I’m sure the bill will be debated once it is brought to the floor.
Many people say that no trade bill has ever been defeated once Fast Track is in effect, but we’ve never had a President who engenders such distrust.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the TPP is voted down. It will undergo much more scrutiny than those trade bills before it. Maybe they already intend to vote it down, and their intention all along was just to secure this authority for a Republican President.
