The method he is referring to is Article V of the U.S. Constitution.
As conservatives have grown increasingly frustrated with the ability of judges and politicians to limit the power of Washington, the idea of convincing states to exercise this power has gained appeal. A project known as the Convention of the States has gained prominent backers, including talk show host and author Mark Levin and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
"Most people don't think about this, but the states created the federal government -- the federal government didn't create the states," Coburn said. "And the supremacy, if you read the enumerated powers, written in the Constitution, it was very limited what the federal government was supposed to have, but everything else was supposed to be left to the states and to the people."
To accomplish their goal, organizers must get 34 states to pass a petition to the federal government proposing a convention to ratify essentially the same amendment. Currently, Coburn said, four states have passed such a petition, he predicted 15 to 16 would do so in the next year, and then another 10 to 12 would do so in the year after that. "Probably in two to three years we'll have the requirements met by the Constitution for an Article V convention," he said.

I have a dumb question: Since the Constitution already limits FedGub to a fraction of the monster it has become today — why would an amended Constitution make a difference?

How about just enforce the one you have already?
Well, the constitution has been amended to make citizens of slaves, change how senators are elected (that would be a good one to repeal), equal sufferage and the like which amendments have been followed. Perhaps the only thing that needs changing is taking the general welfare comment out of the preamble, who knows. But nothing else is working and all I see is more power going to DC and into the Executive Branch. Funny, the first branch of government listed in the constitution is the Congress, not the executive and yet the order of power has been so far changed to make it appear there is one primary branch and two rubber stamp branches.
Does anyone else see the flaw in this logic? The feds are ignoring the Constitution, so let’s amend the Constitution. What, why? So they can ignore the amendments too? Seems to be the same logic behind gun grabbers, more laws, even though we all know criminals break laws...

Easy answer, with STRUCTURAL changes that cannot be just be ignored. Since the 17th amendment, no senator has been chosen by a state legislature. Since the 22nd amendment, no president has been elected more than twice (though granted both the Clintons and the Bushes are trying to get around that with the wife and the brother).
And amendment limiting the terms of congress (or even better, an amendment allowing the states to do so, or to instituted recalls) could not be ignored.
An amendment limiting the time judges spend on the judiciary could not be ignored.
An amendment requiring that all executive agency regulation be voted on in congress before such regulations take effect, could not be ignored.
An amendment allowing the states or the congress (or both) to overrule a judicial opinion could not be ignored.
The founders struggled in their time to create “a more perfect union” and they gave the people and the states the means to perfect it even further, through the amendment process.
Here's the ancient Chinese secret, though. The states may have created the federal government but we, the people, loan the states whatever power they wield.
The Tenth Amendment says the powers not delegated to the government by the states are reserved by the states or the people. The Declaration of Independence says government are instituted among men by the consent of the governed. That's us. WE are the governed. WE have the power to change to change the government.
WE need to get that through our thick skulls.
Since the present government is unable to curtail their desire for more and more power, it will be up to the citizens to curb the government. It really doesn’t matter whether it’s the president, congress & senate, or the Supreme Court. Our constitution has been broken, and if it continues the way it’s going, we won’t have a constitution at all. That would be a very good start. Then, once we have straightened out the federal government, we must also institute changes in our state and city and country governments. I understand that we can’t change all of them at once.
There are amendments to the USC that are mistakes, the 16th and the 17th to name two. They need to be repealed and a CoS could do it. We have to do something, or better yet lets skip the Constitutional formalities go to secession and then a huge civil war. I am ok either way.
In my opinion a Constitution that is not followed is way worse than no Constitution at all. For the latter circumstance lends a fig leaf of authority to those wielding unlimited power, they point at it and say "see we are doing it the right way" when the opposite is true.
We live in perverted times, These are similar times to bread and circuses of Rome after the Roman republic died.

Sure, the bully is bigger, stronger and has more weapons. . .but, even so, sometimes the bully needs to be reminded of his limitations and the only course available to do so is a well-placed punch in the nose. Can the bully kick our ass, if he wants?. . .sure. ..but there comes a time when action must be taken. . ACTION, not a prediction of likely outcomes. . .The men who were hunkered down on Omaha beach under a withering German fire were faced with a similar decision. . .they too knew that the time to act and to do what is right. . had come upon them. . even in the face of the fact that the most likely outcome would be their demise.
I say the choice is this: die hunkered down on the beach or die in a final charge toward the bunker. America was built by men who decided the latter and not the former.
I say, lets charge up the hill with Article V!!
