Now I’ve heard it all...people are poor because they live in houses and apartments coated with lead paint.
Give me a break. This has to rank up there with the theory that one’s predilection for criminality was determined by the number of bumps on your head.
When was lead paint phased out? Thirty, forty years ago? Even tenements and public housing projects have been repainted since then. And, the most recent data he cites about “dangerous” levels of lead are from 1995. How does he explain all the “yuts” born since then—and raised in homes with latex paint—who are thugs and gang-bangers.
Chapman is a columnist for the Chicago Tribune..how in the world did Townhall wind up reprinting his stuff?
“When was lead paint phased out? Thirty, forty years ago? Even tenements and public housing projects have been repainted since then.”
Sure, repainted, but the lead paint is still there, just under a few coats of latex. So if you chip the paint, the bottom of the chip is still going to be lead paint.
When was lead paint phased out? ...1978.
