It was an assassination of a criminal, who had ties to Willem Holleeder. Holleeder was involved with the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken in the 80s, for which he served 11 years in jail. Holleeder fancies himself somewhat of an organized crime boss, and people around him have been dropping like flies, mostly due to lead poisoning, including his brother in law, Cor van Hout who was a co-conspirator in the Heineken case.
