The reason why despite the better than expected increase in jobs the US unemployment rate rose from 5.4% to 5.5% even as the number of Unemployed workers rose by 125K to 8,674MM was due to the 397K influx into the civilian labor force which rose to 157.459MM, a new record high in the series, which on the surface would suggest declining slack as more people who have been traditionally left out of the employment calculation go back into the labor pool.
Which aslo meant that since the total US civilian non-institutional population rose by half this number, the number of Americans not in the labor force declined by 208K to just about 93 million.
And, as a result, the biggest malady affecting the US economy today, is still in place: as the chart below shows, the labor force participation rate rose just barely from 62.8% to 62.9%, a range it has been for the past year. Indicatively, the last time the US labor force was here, was in mid-1978.

That 125,000 will be revised down in a few weeks like it almost always is.

93 million; approaching 1/3 of the total population. Maybe at 1/3 if you don’t count the stinking illegals, their anchor spawn, and the other various non-citizens.

93 Million Americans Remain Out Of The Labor ForceOnce Obama drives another 100 million out of the work force he will claim he has achieved 0.0% unemployment.

93 Million Americans Remain Out Of The Labor Force Despite Nearly 400K Work Pool Increase 1. I don't believe the government's figures on job creation; and
2. Has it ever occured to the "geniuses" in DC that the continued influx of foreign invaders taking our jobs may be, at least in part, the cause of the 93 Million who have given up?

Well, Peggy Joseph started this by saying she wouldn’t have to worry about paying ANYTHING. What are the societal parasites supposed to think?

Considering that about 25% of the total population is under 18 and 15% is over 65, I don’t find that alarming.

Who on earth is Peggy Joseph?

With 5% considered “full employment”,
we’re just half a percent above that!
Wow, isn’t the economy WONDERFUL?

That’s what I was wondering...does the 93 million count those groups?

And they all plan to draw Social Security someday. LOL!

Real unemployment is 24-28% and most people realize it. The government numbers are just insulting to our intelligence.

Who on earth is Peggy Joseph? Rush talked about her extensively a few years ago. Do an internet search on her, or better, look her up on YouTube. She was a lower class black woman interviewed right after the 2008 election and elatedly claimed that she would not have to worry about making her car payment, mortgage payment, pay for gas for her car, etc. because Obama was elected.
I truly believe she was just giving voice to the masses of drones who voted for him.

This is a really strong payroll number, even showing signs of stronger wage gains. The surge in the labor pool is the biggest factor, with rising optimism about job prospects likely to start driving economic fundamentals more broadly.
UNEXPECTEDLY

Note how even the conservative commentators will go with the 5% plus figure and never stop to connect it with the 93 million unemployed. It is like the 11 million illegal immigrant number, when it is more like 30 million or the 5 million amnesty attempt by Obama, when it will be ALL 30 MILLION. It is all mindless repetition of government figures.

Over the last few years I have seen more and more illegal immigrant labor workers taking over industrial construction jobs. The last warehouse I worked in had no English speaking workers, just two American managers.
I would love to see the employment rate charts for illegals next to the unemployment charts for Citizens.
I somehow suspect they match perfectly in an inverse sort of way.

OK, so take 75% of 318 million and yes, count over 65 because most of them are forced to work longer. That figure is 239 mil and if you take 93 mil as a percentage of that then you have 39% are out of the labor force. That isn’t alarming?
Take away everyone over 65 (40% under/over) as you posit making the “employable” population 191 mil so now the percentage of 93 mil unemployed is 49%. Staggering.
Rough figure estimates but valid.
Keep in mind that almost all of the gains are going to illegals and H1Bs and that they don’t count those who are no longer working or those barely employed part time.

93 million people out of the workforce is at least a 31% unemployment rate.
Simple math.

To me the thing is that the out of work people don’t seem resent the illegals.
