All but a handful are east of the Mississippi. That makes no sense.

The data is from alarm activations and other “research” by an alarm company.

Notice that there are no cities in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Idaho, West Virginia, Iowa, or Wyoming, and only one from Utah.

People in those states don’t need alarms.

Very heavily Northeast. I would guess that most of these burgs are heavily white and heavily old money.

These are more like towns than cities. Only 2 in the top 50 come near a population of 40,000

2) Upper Providence Township, Pa: 86.6% White, 3.5% Black or African American, 0.1% Native American, 7.9% Asian, and 1.5% were two or more races
3) Zionsville, Indiana: 94.0% White, 1.2% African American, 0.1% Native American, 2.7% Asian, 0.5% from other races
4) Ridgefield, Connecticut: 96.12% White, 0.62% Black or African American, 0.09% Native American, 2.08% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from other races

I just can’t seem to find a correlation!

There are some surprises on this list. All of the locations I'm aware of have one or two things in common. Y'all will figure it out.

Name the top 100 cites with the highest percent of crackers.

Very heavily tilted to the East Coast: CT, MA, NJ, PA and NY all seem over represented.

these are all towns with populations mostly under 30K in the 10 to 15k range.

Someone might need to tell the author the difference between town and city.

I notice that could be the title as well. Also interesting is that you have to go down to #38 to find the first city over 30,000 (Northhampton Township, PA) and to #61 to find your first city over 100,000 (Peter's Township, PA).

The former is a 'burb of Allentown, the later of Pittsburgh.

It would probably be a more meaningful list if they divided it into categories (under 30K, 30K-60K, 60K-120K, 120K to 250K, over 250K).

Like Murphy, TX. It’s not really a “town”. More like a housing subdivision.

Sorry, I’m calling BS on this list. There are 17 cities in Pennsylvania. Seriously? 19 in New Jersey. 8 in Massachusetts.

That is 46 cities in just 3 states.

Meanwhile, not a single solitary city in Virginia or Wyoming or Montana, Alaska, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Kansas, Nebraska, Louisiana, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Florida...

I can go on all day. Texas is huge and they list 1 single solitary city among the top 100.

This list is pure bullcrap from the get go. I don’t know their agenda but it is like they are just supporting the states that bought their service or some such crap.

What a bogus pant load.

OK, math error. 44 cities in 3 states.

Still, 44 of 100 safest cities are all in just 3 states with New Jersey being one of them and Taxachusetts being another. Sorry, don’t buy it at all.

Crappola list.

Agreed ..... if you look at how they determined this, lots of room for "manipulation" .....

.... our SafeWise security experts have collected and analyzed the most recent FBI crime statistics from all over the nation. We then paired the data with our own research that highlights each city's public safety, public health, and educational information, resulting in 2015's “100 Safest Cities in America.”

How We Rank the Cities:

SafeWise carefully calculates its safety rankings by analyzing and weighting the total number of crimes of a given city in relation to its population and other significant factors. All American municipalities with more than 10,000 residents were considered. SafeWise then identifies relevant safety, health, and educational information and programs that help make each “Safest City” more secure.

...

Lots of room for fudging toward liberal nonsense.

See post 27. I also counted at least 5 on the list which were suburbs of or near Pittsburgh. I can't speak about every location, but I can tell you that, among the non-white population near here fall mainly into the following categories:

  1. India ethnic families employed mainly by the large IT and medical industries in the Pittsburgh area.
  2. Black professional families or those willing to live in the most downscale housing in these areas to send their kids to a decent school. There is at least one near Pittsburgh area on the list (Penn Township) which isn't at all pricey and would probably even be considered downscale by those outside the Pittsburgh area.

The Pittsburgh region enjoys some of the most affordable and stable housing prices in the nation.
