FreedomWorks Matt Kibbe appeared on Glenn Becks radio show yesterday to talk about the Republican nomination process. He explained that there are, in his eyes, only four viable candidates. He explained:
Ive narrowed my field down. Ive taken a long look at Scott Walker. And I think the last time I was on the show, I said Scott Walker would be on my short list. He is not impressing me with a spine of steel more recently. And I think we should look at that. But I think the four most viable candidates for better or worse are people we helped put there. Scott Walker would be one of them. Scott Walker wouldnt exist without Tea Party support in his state."
He added that, for better or worse, Walker definitely is one of the four. The other three are: Ted Cruz and Rand Paul (Glenns favorites) and, finally, Marco Rubio. About the latter Kibbe said that he, like Walker, only became a senator because of Tea Party support, although he has difficulty retaining that support because of his views on illegal immigration. The Republican Party didnt want him, he said, explaining the establishment went for former Florida Governor Charlie Crist.
Those four candidates I predict one of them emerges.
He went on to blast candidate like Jeb Bush whom he dubbed recycled candidates from last elections.
Our guys are looking for someone who authentically stands for something.
Clearly, Bush and other moderates dont do that. Well, in Jebs case, thats not entirely true. He does stand for something: unlimited immigration. Sadly for him, most conservatives wont rally behind that.
Finally, Kibbe also had something to say about the latest candidate to join the field: Lindsey Graham.

“Spine of steel” is a bunch of nonsense. Had Ronald Reagan had a spine of steel, he’d have died a Democrat. Bush was criticized as being rigid, unwilling to change course, and protected his guys at all costs and look how much it gained him - even conservatives condemn him for it. Pragmatism and the ability to adapt are core values for special forces troops and they should be for Presidents, too.
Walker, Cruz, Paul and Rubio
Two I really like - one may be better than Reagan (Cruz)
The other two I don’t care for,
but are still far superior to any GOP POTUS candidate that has been offered since Reagan (with the exception of Duncan Hunter, Michelle Bachman and maybe Alan Keyes).
Duncan Hunter would have been spectacular.
Oh, they will stand for something but you can bet it's not the middle class. Look at who's doing well and you can see their 'something'.
“Walker, Cruz, Paul and Rubio”
I think that is a fair assessment. I think Paul fizzles quickly though.
Bush, meh.
I like Cruz and Walker.
I just don't know about Rubio.
He seemed too willing to be Chuck Schumer’s little bitch.
Rubio hasn't shown he is willing to stand up for his beliefs.
Amnesty Rubio from the Gang of Eight?
Seriously?
NEVER FORGET:
Sen. Michael Bennet, D-CO
Sen. Richard J. Durbin, D-IL
Sen. Jeff Flake, R-AZ
Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC
Sen. John McCain, R-AZ
Sen. Bob Menendez, D-NJ
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-FL
Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY
Walker, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio - I will not vote for Rubio because of Amnesty and as a bonus because he lied about his stand on Amnesty. The other three are acceptable (more or less in Paul’s case),
Yes he would have.
Actually, two are acceptable from a conservative perspective:
1. Ted Cruz
2. Scott Walker
Won’t vote for either a Libertarian and/or an Amnesty supporter which leaves the other 2 out.
I agree about Hunter. Let’s hope voters exercise some Wisdom this time around and do not allow a rare opportunity to elect a man of Ted Cruz’s caliber slip through our fingers.
That’s who should have been nominated in 2008.
I remember a poster named pissant that campaigned tirelessly for Hunter back then.
McCain’s nomination was when I started figuring how how the RNC manipulates the process to get the result they want. What they want is an amnesty candidate. They do not want us to elect anyone who would stop the invasion/cheap labor importation/colonization of our country.
Cruz is the clear choice.
Walker might be acceptable.
The rest are not.
All anyone needs to know about Duncan Hunter was the fact that he was endorsed by Chuck Yeager.
That’s bad ass.
Cruz and Walker are the only two I could support with any enthusiasm at all. Jindal too if he were to get in and gain traction.
Paul is a nutjob like his dad.
Rubio is not only a traitor on amnesty, but even if he wasn’t, what would be the argument for him over Cruz? They are both Cuban first term Senators and Cruz is far more solidly conservative and intellectually superior. So if we’re gonna go the first-term Senator route, Cruz is far and away the best choice. In the long run, I think this glaring fact will ultimately doom Rubio’s campaign.
I would not include Rubio in your list.
A poll was taken in FL - after Cruz spoke there recently; Cruz 65% - Rubio 10%.
If Rubio can’t win in his own state ..??
CRUZ OR LOSE
I like Cruz but Paul is my pick of the litter.
Its difficult if not impossible to argue with Kibbe. Walker has momentum, but also has certain weaknesses that might be exploited. Marco Rubio could end up being the compromise-candidate. Rand Paul has a big following and clearly stands for something. And lastly, Ted Cruz, is the penultimate truly conservative candidate.
If we look at those four candidates, two have weaknesses that may end their ambitions. Rands is as everybody knows foreign policy. His views may help him in the general election, but I sincerely doubt hes able to win the nomination. If more voters share Kibbes views on Walkers spine (or a lack of it), it may eventually boil down to a two-men race between Rubio and Cruz.
Imagine that: two Hispanics vying for the Republican nomination and both of them (more or less) conservative. Republican voters may actually end up with a nominee they can passionately support this time.
Jeb Bush murdered Terri Schiavo.
