Will somebody please remind me...what was the national security threat that caused the US to bomb Libya and remove Gaddafi?

Because all I can remember is the US interfering in an internal conflict. But that can't be right...a Nobel Peace Prize-winning president would never authorize such a thing.

And most of the claims of internal strife turned out to be hyped up propaganda. Blasting Libya to pieces and leaving them to the terrorist wolves seems like a bigger war crime than destroying the water infrastructure but...
