Getting a degree in Gender/Black Studies is no way to go through life, nor getting the “vapors” over descriptive writing that is raw in its content, is going to prepare you for real life outside of the university campus.
If you think that what is written by Ovid et al is going to cause you consternation and introversion, then try walking the streets of West Baltimore, Southside Chicago, parts of Cleveland, N. Y City, West Philly, New Haven, Ct, and Detroit.
That reality will scare you shitless. Reading an old piece of literature isn’t going to create an atmosphere of “oppression”, “misogyny” or “fear”. Walking the streets of a major city will.

I took a course in linear algebra in college. When they discussed determinants everything was OK until they talked about multi-linearity and skew-symmetry. Talk about micro-aggression! I was shocked and went to my counselor. She told me to find my “safe space” and take refuge in it when these traumatic subjects came up in the future.
