I can’t help but add that Dr. Atkins died on April 17, 2003. He was admitted to the hospital on April 7, 2003. Lawyers from the family and the Atkins processed food conglomerate immediately said that he slipped on some ice and hit his head. The only time in the history of the weather record that New York City experienced sub freezing temperatures on April 7 was in 1982 which was a record low. Needless to say temperatures were not any where near freezing the day or the night before Dr. Atkins died.

The autopsy performed on Dr. Atkins after his untimely death on April 17, 2003 was eventually leaked to the press. It showed that he was obese and had advanced heart disease at the time of his death. The family and the lawyers for the company tried to spin this by saying that he gained nearly 70 pounds during the week he spent in a coma in the hospital. Yeah, that happens a lot... Doctors like to pump nearly ten gallons of IV fluid into their unconscious patients in a week. It really helps with their recovery.

The truth of the matter is that Dr. Atkins most likely collapsed from a coronary event and hit his head. It is also possible that a clot from all the plaque built up in his arteries broke loose and blocked circulation to his brain. Either way his poor diet, obesity, and history of heart disease were major contributors if not the direct cause of his demise. Yet you have the good sense to want to follow in his example and indeed encourage others to do the same? What a guy!

Your agenda is showing.

Dr. Atkins did slip on ice because of a widely reported ice storm on April 8th, 2003. He developed a massive subdural and went into autonomic system failure.

Part of the treatment for autonomic failure is the massive infusion of fluids to raise blood pressure. Dr. Atkins was 195lbs entering the hospital and retained 63lbs of additional fluids during the time he was in a coma. The large hematoma was removed from his brain (lapsing into a coma) and he was put a ventilator. Per his pre-accident medical directive, he was removed on the 17th from life support and died.

Dr. Atkins lost consciousness during emergency transport and was unable to talk, however fellow medical staff witnessed the fall.

Dr. Atkins suffered from cardiomyopathy for three years before his death.

Two years earlier, the American Heart Association had pointed out that cardiomyopathies were either confined to the heart or were part of a generalized disorder, both often leading to death or progressive heart failure. Both groups excluded heart disease due to coronary artery disease, hypertension, abnormalities of the heart valves, and heart disease present at birth from the definition.

The autopsy results were illegally obtained by a member of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). The PCRM are a PETA front group.

The PCRM was sanctioned, but never prosecuted for their illegal activity.

The PCRM are a vegan special interest group that used Atkins death as part of a disinfo campaign.

Are you a member of PETA?

What is it with your nonsense?

It is below zero in NYC all the time. The low was freezing or below for April 5, 6, 7, and 8, 2002: http://www.almanac.com/weather/history/NY/New%20York/2002-04-04

And extreme water weight gain in such situations is common:
http://ask.metafilter.com/52458/Drugs-cause-45pound-weight-gain-in-5-days

You’re the one who started with posting that those who recognize that simple carbs, rather than animal fats, are problematic for health and a healthy weight.

The Framingham heart study, which was used to build a lot of the disinformation of the 20th century actually showed those who ate the most meat lived the longest. Ancel Keys selectively cherry picked only the not-great data that correlated animal fat and heart disease, but the full data shows an inverse relationship between animal fat consumption and mortality.

Here’s a WSJ treatment on the bogus data: http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702303678404579533760760481486

And here’s a report on how important Keys was to the animal fat/cholesterol misinformation: http://www.perfecthealthinstitute.com/aANCELKEYS.html

I don’t know why you’re gripping bad data in your jaws like a dog bone, but you’re way off track.
