China Predicts War with US over Spratly Islands
yournewswire.com ^ | May 26, 2015

A Chinese state owned newspaper warns of a conflict with the US, unless Washington stops demanding that China halts land reclamation and construction projects in the South China Sea.

The Global Times says ‘War is inevitable’ unless the US backs down on Chinese land reclamation and the consequent rights to territorial boundaries of such man made islands. The islands that are man-made are in disputed waters of several regional nations. Some of these nations have close ties with the United States.

The US maintains that it is also maintaining the free passage of the waters of the South China Sea for all shipping. China maintains that she has historical claims on the Spratly islands.

The creation of the artificial islands from a patch of rock or land in the middle of the high seas, and the follow-up construction and the territorial claims over water, land and air, is a new phenomenon that is a game changer. China wants the United States to accept her as an equal, if not a stronger player on the world scene, and she is changing the rules of the game.

You know, I had know idea that this was where this was happening. I thought it was part of that dispute with Japan over the Senkaku Islands.

Geographically, this is insanely aggressive. In effect, they are claiming hegemony over all of southeast asia.

Kissinger and Nixon wanted to get help in resolving the Vietnam War by going to China.... By dealing with China and also Russia they hoped to put pressure on Hanoi to negotiate seriously...and to get Russia and China to slow down the provision of aid to North Vietnam somewhat. ........at a minimum, they sought to persuade Russia and China to encourage Hanoi to make a deal with the United States and give Hanoi a sense of isolation because their two, big patrons were dealing with us.

There were not many people there. The reception was very cool.

“If you decide that China sees her Pacific boundaries as including Guam, then you have a hard decision to make; oppose her now while you maybe have allies, or wait until you have none”

Ultimately our closest allies are our best Nuclear weapons. China would do well to consider that any full out war with China would end in Nuclear conflagration.

A “Chinese” type of response to the Chinese veiled threat would be to remind them of that, or remind them that under their standards, any ship transiting the canal being built in South America would be either starting or ending her transit into American waters.

Think of it as a game of Weiqi (”way-chee”), otherwise known as the game of Go.

Obama is a destroyer. It takes no sack to destroy an enemy who not only won’t fight you but helps you in their own demise (Boehner, McConnell, The sheeple that sadly represent the majority in this country). He wouldn’t know what to do in a real fight with an enemy that fought back.

Heck..China's building artificial Islands in the disputed zones...here's the airplane runway on one of those Islands....When in operation it will be able to "accommodate almost any type of aircraft that China would want to land"....Before this construction China lacked the refueling and resupply capabilities to reach the southern part of the South China Sea.... These Islands are being seen as part of an attempt to assert China's territorial claims by establishing physical facts in the water.

How long have they been building this island? And we are only talking about it now?

“Hey Frank, ya know that garage that guy built in your back yard?”

“Um, yeah?”

“Well, it looks like he is going to park his car in it.”

“What! How dare he!!! Call 911. Where’s my gun!?”

Now if you look at China's New Silk Road for trade you can see why the South China Sea is so significant....not just militarily and for the gas and oil reserves there, (which have great meaning for those nations disputing with China), but the trade routes themselves.

They’re building these on reefs.....I think there’s six of them total. One was actually built in less than a year so they’re moving quickly on them. There’s a reason for that because currently there are no laws to really prevent this. Plus it falls back on old marine time stuff which one can lay claim to. Which is why the nations there are disputing all this and things are so tense....but they’ve been at this since around 2012 I think or thereabouts.

If you check posts 45 46 showing maps of what China claims you see it looks like a “Tongue” and often referred to as such.

Nixon said “we can’t run the world without China” and I think he meant trading with China would strengthen American business.

It took time and several presidents ahead of him to cement the idea, but that was the plan.

The foreign policy of the United States has been bipartisan since World World II with the United Nations, international law and rules of engagement.

You mention Vietnam. The phony peace deal Nixon’s administration signed with North Vietnam was as worthless as the paper Neville Chamberlin came back from Munich with Hitler’s signature on it.

Blame the Democrats for withholding aid from South Vietnam which is what the GOP apologists say, but why sign a meaningless “peace agreement” with Communists in the first place.

South Vietnam and Communist North Vietnam were created at a negotiating table in 1955. The United States with Soviets, British and French held a summit at Geneva at the time another Republican was in office, Eisenhower.

Republican Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, who made great anti-Communist speeches, signed off on the creation of a Communist state in North Vietnam and all that ensured from it, like a war that the United States (Reps and Dems) never intended to win like World War II was won.

Park his car in it? He’s saying no one can come within a mile of it, and the whole town is his.

China needs oil—the islands in question are the gateway to the oil rich south. Obama will do zip—let the next president tackle this problem. Things are fast coming to a boil all over the world—do you hear the hoofbeats of the four horsemen? You will. I believe our real enemy is Russia and her allies.

So if I want water and raw materials where to I go? West to Siberia not east into the Pacific. The China se is China’s back door and they are trying to strengthen it.
The Chinese have always been weak on the high seas. But they have always been pretty kick azz on land. India knows this and is beefing up its military. Russia is looking the wrong way making faces at Europe

"China Predicts War with US over Spratly Islands"

I remember reading a Clancy novel about a dust-up over the Spratly's many years ago - it was one of his short ones, but gave me good insight into the politics of the South China Sea issues.

The “good” part about a war with Chicoms is the Free Trade GloBULLists will slither back under the rocks where they came from.
