Yeah, but it’s not really that funny.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking the welding course at any of a number of trade schools, Jr. colleges, and even state programs after I retired. Their graduates are generally well employed and have had quality work hammered into their heads before going on the job.
(Not just ascribed to them as a "union made" mantra.)

Of course, they had to pay their way, didn't get charged dues, didn't get "free" gourmet meals paid for by mandatory dues, and they didn't have to have a relative to sponsor them into an exclusionary thugocracy.

I've been associated with unions in service industries (laundry), government (DOD, NASA), manufacturing (aerospace), and socially (family, police and longshoremen); and there is not a whit of merit in your defense.

Yes a lot of people here think that all Unions are the spawn of the devil. They also think that union dues are half your paycheck. I was surprised at how little union dues can be. I just wish the unions would quit supporting all these socialist/communist politicians.

Welcome to the 2015 modern union shakedown racket. Become a union shop, or you can’t afford to run a business.

Also, a tacit admission that $15/hr is too much for menial labor jobs.

But a great way of protecting your members, union thugs... Come work for us... We’ll get you a gig UNDER minimum wage.

Way I read this is that unions just backdoored membership- you do not want to pay $15 per hour- let work force unionize. membership and dues go up- pay scale stays the same- screwing the worker again.
So you want a job go union- you want higher pay and no job go minimum wage
