A man was shot dead at a Detroit gas station late at night on Tuesday.
The man was trying to flee a carjacking while he was filling up with gas.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters Tuesday he wouldn’t gas up in Detroit late at night unless he had to.

I saw his comments yesterday and he pointed to some particular neighborhoods and he’s absolutely right.

Why do blacks commit so many crimes? Is it genetic? I seriously do not understand it.
We have relatives who live in the suburbs of Detroit. When we were visiting one of the daughters missed a UPS delivery, a Christmas gift from he boyfriend. She wanted to drive into Detroit to get it. Her parents said absolutely not. As it turned out she is twenty some years old and had never been into the part of Detroit where the UPS office was located. The closest that she had ever been to downtown Detroit was on the freeway going through it. Other than that they stay out of it completely.

The culture that they once had has been almost completely destroyed by the welfare system. In the 1940s black illegitimacy rates were around 14% which was a problem, but today it is well over 75% and over 90% in many urban areas. These are kids that are growing up without dads who take responsibility for them on government assistance with an entitlement mentality in what has turned into a culture which celebrates violence. Add in leftist propaganda, where black people are supposedly being victimized by everyone especially the police and you have a recipe for disaster.

Correct.
There are plenty of blacks with no police record or tendency to commit crimes. Those people have cleaner records than I do.
In my case, genes had nothing to do with it and being a young dumbass had everything to do with it.
Generational poverty culture (thanks to liberals) is the more likely culprit than genetics.
Environment is also a factor. Its not the determining factor but it is a factor.
My little town has 1 black family and they’re good people. The patriarch is from Detroit. When he was a kid his father packed up the family and fled during the riots. He grew up in the hood in Jackson but moved to our tiny rural town to give his kids a fighting chance.
They’re more mannerly and polite than most of the white kids around here.
I actually worked in Detroit for quite a few years, and I NEVER stopped for gas until I was well into Warren (at least as far north as 696).
The general rule was “no cop, no stop”, especially if you saw any hood rats standing near the street or by an intersection.
I'd treat most of any major urban area like the boonies in North Dakota in winter, when it comes to having fuel in the vehicle.
Having to get gas to get away from a carjacker? just shouldn't happen. (besides, how far is the carjacker going to go??)
The same is true of virtually all large urban areas.
There are a few places I won’t go in Jackson and that’s a small city.
