Going back to the 1920s (I don't recall when Senators started being elected by state popular vote rather than from the legislature), these served as Senators:
Obama
Nixon
Johnson
Kennedy
Truman
Harding
Govs. during the same period:
GW Bush
Clinton
Reagan
Carter
F Roosevelt
Coolidge
In spite of the list including Clinton, Carter, and Roosevelt, I'd have to go with Governors here.
Tricky Rick had that industrial development thingy going on that should have sent him to the pokey along with Dewboy and a top Dem.
Rick Perry ohhhh shut up !
Who made you king ?
And all those who say that the president must needs to have been a governor, OHHHHH SHUT UP WILL YOU !
YOU GUYS SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF WHINNING CATS.
This phycobable mumbo jumbo of the presidential candidates must needs to have been a governor.
There is NO place in the US Constitution that says a president must needs to have been a former governor, NADA ! NONE !
And conventional wisdom be dammed, because it’s human wisdom and reasoning.
A candidate’s BELIEF system and IDEOLOGY is more important.
It’s not just the canadates that is saying this phycobable crap that the canidate for president must be a former governor.
Those who are saying this the loudest have a agenda behind it, i.e. trouble makers.
If Rick Perry was in the top tier and front runner he would not be saying this.
He sounds more like a jealous punk.
Punk Perry is more like it.
Or top tier envy.
I was thinking the very same thing.
Perry: "Go Home and Run for Governor"
Why not take the first two words of your own advice Perry-Go Home.
“’You know what, if you want to be the president of the United States, you ought to go back to your home state and be the governor and get that executive experience before you go lead this country,’” said Perry.
If we followed his advice, we would not have had Lincoln. Perry needs to stay out of the race. At this point, his only reason to run is for his own ego.
ITA. He should be supporting Cruz.
Perry has a credibility problem with me and should have with all Conservatives after hiring Haley Barbour’s dirty tricks nephews who displayed their talents in the Mississippi senatorial runoff last year. Four years ago Rick was my second choice to Newt.
I agree with you on that one!
Carter was/is incompetent. So is Clinton. They were elected Gov. at a time when their states were one party machines. I’m not saying I’d take Carter over Cruz or Rubio (what idiot would???), but I am saying that EVERYTHING ELSE BEING EQUAL, the Gov. is almost certainly going to make the better President due to his executive experience. The names I referenced all but proved that.
Ted Cruz is one of a kind- and our best chance to stop this nation from deteriorating into a Socialist/Marxist nightmare. He has the ability to win. He has the passion to lead. He has the courage to do what needs to be done in spite of tremendous opposition.
You may not see this yet, but, the dems absolutely know it. They know he can beat them and our terrified of him.
our=are (oops bad speller)
Would you please point out where I said anything about Ted Cruz?
houeto to Rick Perry: "Go home and STFU!"
I think he realizes that but I believe his point is they don’t run or manage a damn thing but a campaign, they legislate us into slavery.
