Acceptable losses, in your opinion?
They had the wife of the captured Spetsnaz Sergeant appear in Russian TV claiming that her husband was retired from the service. By now Russians have backpedaled their denial and admit that the captured men are indeed active GRU Spetsnaz. Public in Russia just doesn’t care that their TV is constantly caught lying.
Well, acceptable to Putin.
Russia is going to keep this war alive as most of their casualties are not the armed forces, but all sorts of criminal scum they recruit to fight against Ukraine for pay (who never get paid). There are open recruitment offices all over Russia! Russia is happy that there is war against Ukraine as they need Ukraine to be poor for psychological reasons (”see what happens if you want freedom and democracy”) and happy because their criminals will die.
Not really a bad idea. That’s how the Germans “recruited” a lot of their anti-partisan forces in the east. Convicts, court-martialed soldiers, Russian “volunteers”, etc. Dirlewanger and Kaminski Brigades were the best known, but there were plenty of others. New meaning of “acceptable losses”. Gets rid of criminals and the enemy at the same time.
