At the top of the list is Raleigh, North Carolina. The citys residents earn a median base salary of $50,000, higher than many of the cities on this list, while median home values remain a relatively modest $198,400.
Chamberlain notes that the factors that put Raleigh at the top of the list can be a model for other metros. The city has long been attractive to major companies like IBM and Cisco. But now, Raleigh is gaining popularity among technology companies as well, who value the pipeline of talent provided by the citys location among several major universities in the famed Research Triangle, and for the availability of affordable homes.
[Raleigh is] attracting away startup and tech jobs from more expensive traditional cities, but theyve maintained a reasonable cost of living at the same time.
In fact, said Chamberlain, the cities on this list can be broken into two general groups: Fast-growing mid-size tech magnets, like Raleigh, Austin, and Seattle and former industrial cities that have modernized, like, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, and Louisville.

Just Southwest of Raleigh is one of the fastest growing cities in the USA. It’s called CARY and the joke is that it is an abbreviation for Containment Area for Relocated Yankees!
This area is absolutely beautiful.
The problem is that the Yankees are going to bring their Lib politics with them. I would sooner hope for a cockroach infestation.
